The only team who had a demoralising defeat in midweek were City
I knew we'd struggle today. It's the defeats and points dropped in other games that were costly
Getting KO'd from the Champions League is a massive deal. It's what half a season is based around, and a lot of football people were predicting ramifications
Liverpool did not want to really be in Istanbul, and they left their better players behind anyway
we are still in Europe actually
ARE WE FUCK!
Tell that to the fans that are travelling there, might just be something left in this season yet. It's been a car crash so far but it's city, any fuckin thing could happen.

Part of the problem is that Pellergrini is a dead man walking, similar to Mancini's last few months this.

Kompany played like a hysterical three legged bambi again he needs to be benched and keep his mouth shut for a few weeks the bloke is becoming tiresome all the talking shit and tweeting he does. Vince get your head down shut up and concentrate on the football.

As for the formation we got worse when Milner came on effectively lost us the game so hindsight says should have left Dzeko on. Bony , oh dear this is what happens when you sign a player because he scored against us remember John Macken?

It is the worst performance I have seen for decades in view of the cost of the squad against performance level, apart from Aguero, I felt sorry for him just hope he does not look at the mercenaries and think fuck this I'm off at the end of season.
You didn't see the 3-0 defeat at Anfield before the semi in 2011? You didn't see the recent performances against Burnley and Boro? You didn't see the 2013 cup final? Or the Charity Shield last August? Or the League Cup capitulation against Newcastle? Or several visits to Stoke and Sunderland?
Today was shite, but there have been plenty worse. And those were just in recent seasons. If you want to go back decades then try remembering cup ties at Bury, Bolton and Halifax. Those squads were bloody expensive when compared to some of the performance levels they achieved.

Everybody talks about how much the players are paid each week and these are massive amounts. Turn it into monthly figures and all of these guys are each being paid between a quarter of milllion pounds and a million pounds a month. FFS what more motivation do they need? Come the summer when most of them are shipped out they may get the message that if they wanted in the team they had to perform.

You've hit the nail on the head, even before they pull on a city shirt or walk onto the pitch they are getting paid millions so there's no incentive.

Back in the day the incentive was to win irrespective of their wages which granted were high but these days the salaries are obscene.

Today we didn't want to win, Liverpool played us off the field and scored 2 world class goals .

Also, what's all this garbage I'm reading that Kompany wants to stay at City forever and become an ambassador!
What a joke, he done nothing except make so mistakes for the past half dozen games.
An ambassador has to earn respect so there's no way he even gets close IMO.

Pellegrini won't last as I can't honestly see us finishing in the top 3 at this rate !!

At half time in the Barca game, I had not one but two United fans telling me - with straight faces - to be optimistic. "If anyone can claw it back, it's your lot". Even post game it was the same, with genuine reassurances that we could turn it around. Admittedly with a fair chunk of piss taking thrown in, but that's a given.

I wish I had their sunny dispositions. Just not their crappy tastes in football teams.

Same old problems against a team who had just travelled back from a demoralising defeat in Turkey. No excuses, the ref was fair and we were at full strength and we deserved nothing.

yes but after todays woeful display we need a wildly spreading flu virus hitting Barca man for man and even then Manny will get confused and think a draw will be enough to take us through

You have forgot Shrewsbury FA cup it sort of a given when Halifax rears its ugly head

What makes it hard to swallow is the fact we finally have 100% squad, and their late plane flight from Turkey. Still they had 2 times more energy at times than us.

They have Sturridge, Lambert and Balotelli as 3 strikers. All of them cost them like 30m together. Bony cost us 28 and we have Aguero, Dzeko, Jovetic as well sure they would accept any of ours instead of Mario or Lambert maybe even Sturridge for Kun lol.

Yet they were creating more chance, scored more, troubled us more then we troubled them etc.

We beat them well at home but that was because of their awful form and many new signings not findig their place yet for them, also a huge game from Jovetic who is axed since then for some reason.
And against we looked surprised by them. Its like Pellegrini again didnt watch the opponent previous games, their main strengths, their weaknesses.
I am not sure the team is prepared at all or well enough apart to play our game, our style, result will come, blabla...

Sorry I am not into all this fawning for Aguero and what will he think of us? as good as he is , he had three clear cut chances to get us at least a point today I never saw him chasing and busting a gut chasing defenders down , it was a team capitulation

Not listened or read any of the pundits / journos on todays game , or read this thread , because knee jerk reactions always bring the worst out of posters on here . Whatever sky or tomorrows newspapers say about the game , it will be exaggerated beyond belief to appease their rag/dipper customers , looking at the game objectively ,we were beaten by two exceptional strikes at goal , our 2nd half performance was well below our usual standard , but give credit to a younger and hungrier team on the day , they were motivated to beat the premiership champions , and they had a point to improve after we pissed on their parade last season ,but we need a big improvement against Leicester.
