For me though, the latest episode is pretty telling, as it shows how little attention even a shadow minister is paying to an attempted suicide bombing at a hospital. A fucking hospital. We have a political class which, with very few exceptions, is just hoping that all this shit just magically goes away. Do any of them have a plan to deal with it? I very much doubt it.

Also, why are the media still reporting that one person died in the attack? Why are they humanising the attacker? A person didn’t die in the attack, just a piece of shit who tried to murder scores of women and children.

He’s not even being contrite in his “apology”. He called it embarrassing ffs. Embarrassing is putting odd shoes on. He should have been in front of this - it’s his day job and it’s not like he was asked this yesterday when he could be forgiven for not knowing at least some of the detail. I live very close to the incident. Shopping today in the local international store, the unfortunate talk was deep concern about what happened and the strain that it places on the wider community, relationships, and togetherness. It is an awful situation and thank goodness the taxi driver acted so bravely and so quickly. Thankfully, this is a rare occurrence but we really need to look at our role in international politics: the impact of political decisions in pursuit of profit affects us all.

I do wish people would stop using the term "islamophobia".
It is a made up word designed to suggest that people who are opposed to Islam are irrational or suffering from a mental sickness which indeed a phobia is.
I am opposed to all theistic religion on the grounds that it is a blot on humanity and does significant harm. I am not, however, phobic. My objections are seated in logic and evidence not on irrational fear.
