Liverpool terror attack

I agree. lets not go all Daily Mail on him. If it is shown he knew the full story then he is an idiot but I think he was interviewed before anyone knew it was an bomb.
I’ve seen the quote, he obviously didn’t know who the person that died was, ie the guilty party.

Very foolish to go on a live interview about a terror attack without knowing the facts.

The way he said it I genuinely think he is mistaken in who has died.
Yep.

The shadow health secretary has now apologised.

Earlier, he paid "respect and condolences" to the Liverpool bomber's family, without mentioning the taxi driver caught up in the terror attack.

Mr Ashworth said: "This is obviously embarrassing I misread the news ticker in an interview and thought a member of the public had now died.

"My deepest apologies for this mistake."

To be fair to him, that’s why I asked the question I did on the previous page. I’ve been fairly busy in work so have only dipped in and out of articles and skim read through the day and it appears that the media are portraying it like someone has been killed by the bomber.

Saying that, if I was a Shadow Secretary, I’d be making sure I knew the score before sending condolences to the family. What was his bleedin PA doing?

Probably blew his nuts off and didn't bleed out in time before the flames engulfed him.

Wouldn't have been fun.

Wonder if his views on life changed as he was burning up. People who have survived suicide from jumping say they instantly regretted their decision. Guess it depends how much he loved his God.

It makes a refreshing change to see a senior politician quickly apologise when he fucks up.

Fuckwit

Shadow health Secretary sends condolences to dead bombers family , I fucking despare at the state of our politicians no doubt he will now say sorry I made a mistake
That is an utterly ridiculous statement, Starmer surely has to sack Ashworth immediately.

They are complete shithouse scum, the same thing happened in Afghanistan they went into a maternity ward and you can imagine the rest of the story. There is no reasoning with their ideology only hope is catching them early and sending them prison for life.
Costs a lot of money to keep them in prison, isn’t there a cheaper option?

He’s a moron but one mistake shouldn’t cost you your job. He’s apologised after being corrected.

He’s not even being contrite in his “apology”. He called it embarrassing ffs. Embarrassing is putting odd shoes on. He should have been in front of this - it’s his day job and it’s not like he was asked this yesterday when he could be forgiven for not knowing at least some of the detail. Unforgivable is what he should have said because that’s what it is.

Anyroad now’s not the time for politics.

He's made a ridiculous mistake that should cost him his role on the shadow front bench.

If he was a Tory I would be calling for his removal. I don't see any difference.
Agree entirely, its an utterly stupid statment that shows how out of touch he is with the UK population at large.

Mr Ashworth later apologised, tweeting: "This is obviously embarrassing I misread the news ticker in an interview and thought a member of the public had now died. My deepest apologies for this mistake."
