Liverpool - the city

Ah now; be fair. Wales is full of Mickeys, it's an easy mistake to make.

;-)
Have you no response apart from cracking a joke? You know full well a Liverpool jersey would get unbelievable stick whilst about in Manchester.

I’d regularly get double takes from old men who couldn’t tell the difference between a dragon and a liver bird.

I personally think it’s embarrassing
However you get scumbags everywhere
Tbh fair they have done a cracking job developing the inner city of Liverpool

Liverpool is very much more the working class city than Manchester is now. Good work opportunities has significantly improved life quality for many Mancs whilst Liverpool falters behind.

I’m glad I don’t live there because there’s only so much of the sanctimonious pricks you can tolerate. Salt of the earth this and dead friendly lad. It’s a handy city to have over the water but I don’t spend much time there.
Both are still in the top 6 most deprived places in England out of 317, and it fluctuates, Knowsley worse than Liverpool these days which wasn't the case in the past. Salford has seen some improvement, Manchester not really compared to the rest of the country.

Fucking hell; don't be so touchy. I'm sorry that I seem to have offended you in some way. Not sure how an obvious joke can do that, but hey ho.

Remove the whole stupid scouse/manc thing and any footballing rivalry, its a great place to visit being a local myself.

Walker Art gallery, slavery museum, maritime museum, Albert dock, a few different Beatles tours/walks (if your into that). The Pier Head. Way too many good quality pubs to mention if you stay away from the real touristy places and some great places to eat.

The 2 cathedrals are a good shout, especially the Anglican cathedral which I think is the biggest in Britain. The Georgian quarter is great.

The hidden gem of Western Approaches in Exchange Flags is worth a visit too if your into war history.

Other than that, its not a big city so you can see a lot in a day. Some fantastic architecture to see as your walking around. There is something for everyone

Fully agree with all that. One of my best mates was from Wavertree (zero interest in football) and used to go for nights out over there in the early 80's. We tended to go to rock clubs and venues mostly (Eric's, Wilsons, The Cumberland and Stairways over the water) .... I recall what was a glorified shabeen called Casa something or other too ... had some great nights, but it was as dodgy as feck back then. I recall one night no cabs were coming into the centre, so had to walk to Wavertree .... right through Toxteth not long after the riots, burnt out cars everywhere, lol.

It's been transformed nowadays, especially the waterfront etc. Some great pubs, restaurants and bars, and feels so much safer than back then, whereas I find Manchester has gone the opposite.

You haven’t. Rhetoric or joke cracking just bore me to death.

One thing we’ve got in common with Stretford Red & White Sox is a hatred of Liverpool. The Asda arsewipe may well have been a rag.

Most of friends here are Liverpool and we get on fine. Interestingly, none of them go!

I see you're not on here that long. Therefore, you may not be aware of the low esteem that Liverpool fans are held in on here. The fact that you have friends who are Liverpool fans does not change that. They are, and will continue to be for some time yet, the target for (let's be honest) hatred among a sizeable proportion of Blues. And, I'm fairly, sure, fans of a lot of other clubs as well.

I think like any big city, whether it be Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, London etc. Once you go out of the city centre itself, there can be real dodgy areas that you dont want to walk around, especially if you not a local. Both of those areas have had development but there are still shithole parts there that id stay away from

I cant speak about Manchester as a whole as ive only been to the city centre but I like it. Slightly different than Liverpool but only down the road. An awful lot has gone into renovating the city centre and you can tell. The warerfront is lovely now and as pointed out before by posters the baltic triangle is developing well and offers something different with its vibe

There are certain areas/pubs to avoid on a weekend night as young scallies on the ale (and god knows what else) out always ready to kick off, but again, no different from anywhere else. But other areas have great atmospheres and never have any trouble. Its about knowing where to go really. But of a day, you very rarely see trouble with tourists or in general in the city centre. We get cruise ship loads in daily in the summer and you hear every accent under the sun on a regular basis.
