Liverpool - the city

We have been a few times in the last few years, stayed a few nights.
I love it,its all within walking distance most sites ,the anglican church is very impressive, the ferry ride is a nice break and cheap, nice buildings up near Lime street ,the museum, obviously mathew street and other beatles stuff, get the bus up.to anfield and walk through stanley to see Goodison.
Last time we went last year,my parents came with us,we had a great time,no trouble or manc v liverpool problems etc
we got the tram in piccadilly to get back home and within 10 minutes 3 scrotes attacked a young lad with his girlfriend,i was about to intervene when one of the scrotes walked passed me and got a knife out, tram stopped and the driver refused to continue !

The world museum is fantastic. The round trip ferry is good and it has a german u-boat at one of the stops. The riverfront is worth a visit. The city centre is nice and I hear the Liverpool One shopping centre is really good, although I've not been. Speke hall, near the airport, is a nice National Trust property. You can also go on a Beatles homes tour from there but I think you have to book first. The philamonic hall is meant to be great and Liverpool Empire is a nice theatre. The Catholic Church 'Paddy's Wigwam' is a unique building if youre into thay sort of thing.

My Brother in law is a dipper and dragged me to look at their museum. Even though I felt dirty the whole time, the 5 Champions League/European Cup trophies, lines up in a row is bloody impressive.
Speke Hall was actually owned by my family at one time - government took it off my family and gave it back to them for a ten year period in early 1900's.
The Anglican Cathedral is well worth a visit ( Ian Broudie's ( Lightning Seeds) brother, a gifted civil rights lawyer sadly leapt to his death from there)
The Philharmonic / Hope Street area is okay as are the museums.

The maritime museum is worth a visit if that sort of stuff interests you. You can get a ferry to the isle of Man too but probably too much for a weekend

As mentioned in another post, Bold Street bars and restaurants are good. There’s a nice German drinking establishment now. Some good shops too.

Ranelagh Street is lively too. I only really shop in Liverpool and just use it for travel elsewhere. Wirral people are very much not Scousers…

New Brighton across the water is ok for a visit. It's a short train journey from Lime Street or St.James. The promenade walk gives some good views of Liverpool waterfront. Theres a couple of decent boozers over there and a great Turkish restaurant.
