I find it hillarious that there is a 112 page thread just about Liverpool this year and then we say they aren't a big club and are irrelevant.

All those jealous years and we can finally look down our noses at them. Feels good tbh. Though I think people get a bit too carried away on here. We were shit for like 100 years before now and then we say they're irrelevant because they've not had much success for three years amid financial turmoil.

Hated Dalglish, I see why they love him since he is accredited to building a fantastic 80's Liverpool side which is heralded as one of the greatest of all time among 60's Ajax, 90's Milan or the Barcelona of now. Shame he's such a grumpy old git nowadays incapable of getting his side to win more than two games on the bounce. Definitely lost his touch.

I don't understand why they all suddenly want Rafa back. Haven't they learned? I mean aren't they concerned with severing a relationship with another club legend of theirs? I mean I get it, they want to get back into the Champions League, and Rafa was the last man to do that but in the same breadth he's the man that took a side with Torres, Mascherno, Agger, Riena, Gerrard, Kuyt, Benayoun, Glen Johnson etc to seventh. A team that finished with 86 points a record for a second placed team (until now that is) to a measly 63.

I think Martinez is a very talented man. Is he the man to get them back to what what they were? I don't know. It's impossible to say. You never would have thought Capello would become what he is when he first won a league in Serie A. I think he'll do well for them but clearly their owners are more concerned with the director of football role(s) and that is where they expect the success to come from. Clearly because of the disastrous summer oversaw by Comolli and Dalglish, they never want 100m+ gross spend to be returned with almost nothing of note. This to me is why they seem to want to go for a 'head coach' so to speak instead of a manager like Rafa or Capello, who because of their pedigree would expect 100% control. Martinez would be able to galvanize the dressing room and get the best out of his players I suppose.

I get why they are worried about FSG considering the shambles that were H&G but FSG already restored a once great sporting brand in the Boston Red Sox to what they are now. They seem to want to do it again. They follow a simple model, if they win, FSG win. They don't have ridiculous resources like our owners but they are capable of building a sustained and prosperous sporting brand. They wouldn't have bought Liverpool for any other reason, considering the parallels you can draw between Liverpool and the Red Sox or even Anfield and Fenway Park.

Damn, I am so glad we've won the league. So so glad we aren't in that place when we came 10th and very unsure of what was to come. Big money signings not doing the business, incapable manager. I'm just glad we've finally left that 'in transition phase'.
665 pages on the Rags, 277 on the Spuds, only 113 for the Dippers after everything they've done this season; and nothing good? Actually shows how low/hated they are.

You'd already know that though, right?

My problem is not that many of you hate them. It's that we give them this much attention and then all the comments in the thread contradict the fact that we talk about them so much! 'they are irrelevant' 'they are so past it' 'delusional and obssessed with the past' (the one I think is the stupidest comment aimed at them) 'they have no class' when you read half the comments in here and you'll struggle to find an intelligent comment and then we mock RAWK. Jesus Christ. Go on a Liverpool forum, you'll struggle to find anying about Man City! There's the off comment that most opposition fans believe in that we buy success blah blah but most of the time they like us because we share a common interest. Hating United. I think having 600 plus pages on the Rags is equally pathetic.

If I was an opposition fan i'd just laugh at the fact that we put this much effort into hating them. And 227 pages on the Spuds? What the hell? Wow are we Arsenal? Who cares about that small time Europa League outfit? If I was a spuds fan i'd be honoured that we mean so much to City!

Most City fans are known as a nice bunch, revelling in the gold pot the Sheikhs have given us and just happy to be doing so well, you come on here and it's actually imho worse than RAWK. Hardly any decent intelligent or constructive discussions. Just pure hatred and derision aimed at anything and everything.

113 pages on a team that has been on one of the worst runs of form in almost 50 years. Relegation form since they won the CC. That is why there is nothing good in this thread. Not because they are 'hated'. I don't see the point in hating them because for the time being, they aren't a threat to us, don't look likely to become threats to us and aren't rivals anyway. Weird honestly.

Really? i must have a different history of Manchester City.

Nowhere near the success they've had. 'Shit' by a 'big' teams standard. We won the league and it was the first since 68'. We won the FA cup and it was the first since 69.<br /><br />-- Thu May 24, 2012 10:31 pm --<br /><br />

I don't doubt that some are but a quick skim of the pages and there's no discussion of football in here whatsoever. I shudder to think what's in the United thread which I oft avoid. I much prefer the bluemoon forum strictly related to City stuff as there people discuss. Here, not so much. The only team that doesn't seem to be hated is Chelsea and that's because they share our roots. It would be hypocritical of us to insult them and their success. Maybe Arsenal too. Then again, nobody seems to hate them. Strange one really. I put it down to the fact that they don't win and whilst being a consistently good team, they never really pose a threat. I remember when they were invincible. Boy, did people hate them haha

"I meant in terms of Martinez looking a complete cock for walking with Henry trying his hardest to get the LFC job but ending up back in the dugout at Wigan like a reject."

This comment is an example of one of the 2-3 major reasons no top manager looking up will ever touch them.

This chap has seen a pic of Martinez walking down the road with their owner and is already like this. That' is it, 2 guys walking down the street drinking a coffee and you get this vitriol.

If they are not going to give a manager a chance who does not have a liverpool badge tatooed on their heart then before they even start they are starting with one arm tied behind thier back.

@ sofialady,

Liverpool are now an upper mid table club (at best), should you wish to use the fact a north west english club laughs at another north west english club for messing everything up; as some justification you are still a big club then thats your prerogative.
The amount of pages of us laughing at the many recent managerial and administration decisions (not to mention the clown show on the pitch this season) amongst other comical liverpool exclusive lols (victim mentality, our year, best players, istreh and so on) is a poor standard to use imo to gauge a teams popularity.

Indeed your logic is skewed here to help you do a typically rawkish act (self delusion) in this case that of you still being a top top team.

I'm a City fan for one. So the RAWK quip makes no sense.

Liverpool are not an upper midtable club. Yes they have finished upper mid table for the past three years. That means they have an upper midtable team. Simple concept really and one that many of my fellow City fans refuse to acknowledge. As much as we love saying it, it's not true. Three or four years out of contention doesn't suddenly turn you into an irrelevant midtable team that means nothing on the big stage. Liverpool and as I much as I hate saying it, the Rags are the only two clubs in England that hold actual European prestige. They are among Juventus, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Ajax etc in being the biggest clubs in football. Arsenal do also to an extent but the fact that they haven't yet won the biggest prize in club football keeps them from reaching the level of the other two. Who have both won it multiple times. I know you might not like admitting it but Liverpool have been European Champions in the last decade adding to their monumental four other wins. They remain one of the only English clubs to have won at San Siro, Bernabeau and Camp Nou (I think they are the only team to have done this). Only four years ago they were ranked number one in Europe on UEFA coefficients. Just because they endured a boardroom battle that almost crippled the club for two years and still are trying to find their feet again doesn't mean they lost all of what they once were.

Discourse changes so quickly when it suits your objective. If you think Liverpool are an irrelevant midtable club, why is there not an Aston Villla thread that is 113 pages long? I also fear to think what you think we are. You'd fit into the club that says we bought all of our success and because of that it means nothing. Such is the simplicity and idiocy of you logic.

Take Juventus. Haven't had the most success untill recently. Had all the threats and accusations aimed at Liverpool aimed at themselves, when they are absolute giants of the game. Giants. I found it stupid then and I find it stupid now.

Once they get back into the Champions League, these past 4 years will have been forgotten. I mean just like all us City fans forgot everything before we were bought. I just find it sad that City fans who should know more than anyone call a club like Liverpool, small and irrelevant. It's funny honestly. And that makes you even more delusional than the RAWKites you speak of.

I could cut and paste a comment from this forum and then paint a picture that I wanted just like you just did. Means nothing mate and if you want to have a discussion try levelling actual arguments and not using some irrelevant internet persons comments whom you don't even know. Also, the victim mentality thing. I cringe when people say this. What does that even mean? Is it an insult regarding Hillsborough and Heysel?.. If it is I cba discussing with you. I was ten years old when Hillsborough happened. To this day it's the worst thing I have ever seen happen in football and when people sing these chants at games or boo the silence's i'm taken aback everytime. Imagine if people had done this against Bolton and Fabrice Muamba. Have some insight. A life is a life whether it happened in 89 or 2012. Damn.

And before you say why don't they shed more light on Heysel too then? Heysel was a dark period for them but not in the same way as Hillsborough. Why would they want to relive it? Bothers me what people say and how they let football cloud their morality.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

Oh your blue ? sorry you just write far to much so assumed you to be one of them rawkites that have "Liverpool the complete history" on their person at all times incase they need to explain why they are still top dog.

stick to the BLUEMOON FORUM then if you don't like general football chat.

and chelsea's roots are fucking nothing like ours. i have no idea why you said that.

and do not ever slag our history off ever again, we're one of the most exciting clubs in the world to follow. just because we went 35 years without anything doesn't mean it's "shit".....

Erm slag off? Why would I support City if I was trying to slag off our history? I am not slagging off our history and if that's all you got from my comment your best off not reading any of my posts.

What, so Chelsea were not bought by a supremely rich owner that has never ending resources, almost unrivalled in world football coupled with the fact that all he wants is for his team is to win? Don't be so blinkered. That is what I meant and you know it.

35 years without anything is 'shit' in the sense that it isn't SUCCESFULL. Gosh. Not that in the sense that i've hated every minute of it. Learn English please?
