To be able to compete for the elite players in the future, Liverpool need to find ways of making money and quickly, because as long as FFP is in place, it doesn't matter how many zillions a new owner has; they will never be allowed to invest beyond what they are allowed to.
They know that Suarez is the last 'cash cow' ticket that they hold so they are (quite rightly) holding out for as much as possible. God knows they need it after blowing all the Torres money on average players, who didn't improve them one jot. And where are they going to find the next Gerrard, because anyone outside of Anfield knows that Allen or Henderson aint gonna fill them boots.
And as long as Liverpool finish outside the Top 4/6, do you honestly think that Sturridge and Coutinho will want to hang around forever, when the bigger teams, with bigger wages and a guarantee of Chumps League, come knocking?
True, they will make money on them, but at the moment, Liverpool are all about taking a gamble on kids with promise, in the hope that they can develop them enough to make a decent profit on them, which will increase their revenue, which will allow them to invest in better players. But this aint gonna happen overnight.
Said it before, but those who voted for FFP solely see their club as a way of making money for themselves. Otherwise, they would have voted against FFP and invested their own money, which Fenway didn't.
Their rhetoric about how clubs should be run is only there to mask what they are really doing and are making chumps out of their fans.
