Although they were our direct rivals last season and a lot of their fans got quite giddy I still don't mind them as a club. I think Rodgers has shown he is a very good manager and can motivate his team. I think Suarez will probably go but they will get quite a bit of money off the back of it and it will be interesting to see what kind of players Rodgers will be able to bring in and mould in to the team.

While I agree that Rodgers did prove he can motivate his team and he created a very potent attacking force, he proved to be tactically naïve in that instead of settling for a point against Chelsea, and shutting up shop when Palace scored their first, he seemed to know only one way of playing. And that was to attack. This tactical naïveté ultimately led to Liverpool missing out on the title, as we kept going when it mattered and won our last five games.

Exactly this.
Tactically naive is exactly what Rodgers is ( or was) without a shadow of doubt he cost them the title in the 2 games you mention. The Chelsea game was highly predicable. The Crystal Palace game was the one that found him out. At 3-1 he should have changed it around and shut up shop. He did the exact opposite and it cost them the title.
Any other manager would have been held accountable.

Candles a plenty in the next few days bye bye Luis.

Oops parody account sorry. Hold the candles.

In the mirror today poor stevie says he needs to go away for 3 weeks and grieve for the world cup failure before deciding whether to retire
GRIEVE? what a stupid word to use in relation to losing a football match but oh how typical dipper

I think next season will be the one that either elevates Rodgers into one of the top managers or dispels the hype that surrounds him and Liverpool. He must realise that he is unlikely to enjoy the same level of success next season as he did this if he employs the same tactics as last year. Far more opponents will be prepared for the initial 30 minutes of all out attack and will set up to frustrate Liverpool early on and hope for chances later in the game as Liverpool fade.
It is a massive pre season for them and one that could see them lose Suarez, in which case he'll have a ton of money which will test his buying ability. Even if Suarez stays Rodgers needs to bolster his defence, Gerrard is never going to be a defensive midfielder, he tackles like Paul Scholes and is poor positionally. He also needs full back cover and centre half cover, given that last seasons "buy of the year" Kolo Toure, turned out to be not quite the bargain they thought.

Think Hodgson has talked Gerrard around from retiring! Don't you think its a bit big headed by Gerrard letting everyone know by the way I'm going away to think about retiring what a cock!! What is it with players announcing and making a drama about retiring, just come out and say that's it I'm retiring the end!

It's itrelevant whether he retires or not.

Based on his wc performances he won't be getting within a mile of an England team again anyway.

The bigheaded self obsessed **** is well and truly passed it.
