Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana is set to have a medical ahead of a proposed £25m move to Liverpool. Lalana for 25 mln. We bought Silva for 24. English players are so overpriced.

Why are the dippers buying more forwards?

Like us, they were fantastic going forward last season, but more than slightly dodgy at the back.

Surely they should be trying to shore up that defence?

Scrub that; I've just remembered, Brenda thinks anyone can defend. That explains it, then.

They are buying Markovic too from Benfica it looks like!

Which will mean either Shaqiri or Sanchez won't be going.

Lol, theiving scousers at it again.

Sure Rodgers said last season that Liverpool weren't a club who went out buying all the time and were a club who believed in developing youth for the first team. Soon proving himself to be a hypocrite isn't he.

Curious---do you lot feel that was a function of our defenders being shit, or our style of play? I keep wavering between the two.

I'd like to see a new starting fullback come in though.

BTW, last season many of you warned us about Europe and lack of depth and playing twice a week. So isn't it natural that we strengthen our options? In any case I don't think Lallana will usually play as a forward. If Rodgers is brave and starts phasing out Gerrard (this should be seen as a GOOD thing for both the player and the club--it prolonged the club careers of Lampard and Scholes) our midfield 3 of a 4-3-3 will probably be Lallana, that Can dude or Lucas, and Henderson.

I'd also like us to have at least 3 proper strikers entering into the season. When Suarez leaves, we'd just have Sturridge--who is made of glass--and Lambert who is only here for cover.

Sanchez will come if Barcelona decide to get Suarez and won't/don't pay the asking price. We have a stronger hand than last time because of the suspension, and extended contract on Suarez. I think Barcelona need the money so Sanchez will be off somewhere (seems every club other than Madrid and United are constrained by FPP, odd).

I don't want to see too many pieces changing, I actually wouldn't mind if initially all these signings started out on the bench first, but I like that they're being signed early rather than last minute like you lot did last summer.

Sanchez himself will have a say in where he ends up.

One problem Liverpool have (same as City) is that any striker going there knows it's almost impossible to nudge Suarez or Aguero out, so they'll be competing for second spot which isn't always very appealing for a top striker. Most want to be the main man.

Sanchez at (say) Arsenal will know he's number one, but he'd NOT know that at Liverpool or City or even United.

If Suarez goes in the other direction, then that's a different matter - Liverpool becomes a much more attractive prospect, but I expect is Sanchez is available, there'll be multiple clubs in for him, and Barca might not need to part ex him for Suarez. They might get more selling him elsewhere, and paying cash for Suarez.

And then there's Suarez himself. I'm sure he'd like to play in Spain, but does he want to be in with Messi and Neymar? He won't be top dog there. He might fancy that challenge, he might not.

It's going to be a fascinating transfer window this one!
