Nothing to fear in Lallana. Waste of money. Nice player but he's gotta perform on the same level as the likes of Silva now and he ain't close

Emre Can is supposed to be good though and could be a good player for them in the future

City get a lot of flack about our spending but what Liverpool doing now to Southampton is nothing short of asset stripping another club of there best players I thought FFP was going to stop all this?

It's not even worth the rhetoric's anymore. UEFA have been shown up for exactly what they are. Bunch of bent fuckers.

FFP helps the asset striping, how can the owner of a club invest in the squad, to encourage the good players to stay in the belief that the club has ambition , without falling foul of FFP?

Spot on, there should be a limit on the number of players any one club can sign from another in a transfer window, what the rats are doing to Southampton is wrong, signed 2 and after a 3rd, I fear for Southampton next season.

I just think if it was city buying these Southampton players the spin from the media would be very negative

Another Lewis Holtby ?

You don't think we needed to sign a defensive midfielder?

You don't think we need a better squad?
We may do a Spurs (who still finished at about their level anyway), or players might continue to develop and play a little better. But you can't assume that we're going to be shit.

Losing Suarez will be tough, but sometimes losing superstars works fine (Ronaldo for United). Obviously I'll choose to be optimistic, whereas you lot understandably can't wait for it to go tits up!

Theres a big difference between having a bigger squad and having a better squad

Well instead of having Alberto/Aspas/Moses on the bench we will have Coutinho or Sterling/Gerrard*/Lambert on the bench.

So yeah, I'd say the squad is better already. Not Chelsea or City good of course, but then on paper we're never going to get there. We'll have to overachieve again to challenge for the title.

Rodgers seems to be very specific in his signings--so far no one else was in for Can or Lallana, but then again we did sign Alberto and Aspas though I have a feeling those were plan C signings, this summer we may be allowed to spend a little more because of the Suarez sale and goodwill from finishing 2nd. I hope we don't do a Dalglish, but I'm a little nervous about a few things I'm hearing like 40M+ for Lovren and Markovic.

Liverpool's defensive frailties are caused, in equal parts, by the personnel involved and the tactics employed. Flanagan is young, unproven, and liable to errors given he's just starting out in the game. Johnson is a liability defensively, Skrtel can't defend without trying to rip off an opponents shirt, Agger is decent, Sakho looks quick but positionally naive. When you combine that with a set of tactics which involves high energy pressure early on, then you over expose your defence, and you run the legs out of your midfield too early leaving them unable to provide sufficient cover later in games. Rodgers needs to address both of these issues, his signings so far haven't helped the personnel, and I can't see him changing his tactical philosophy to address that issue either. Liverpool will be in a fight for a Champion's League spot this season, but I can't see them pushing the likes of City and Chelsea anything like they did last year. I see us and Chelsea being the top 2, in some order, then the next 3 being made up of Liverpool, Arsenal and United, again in some order.

Hey, they can be our feeder club like Arsenal is yours!
