If I was Sterling I'd be mightily pissed off at Rodgers chatting shit about my contract to the press.

True, reconsidering my previous post--it would be more ideal for Rodgers to have said, "We're negotiating with him, and are confident we'll keep as one of our core players for years to come, I have nothing more to add" and left it at that.

Can is seriously impressing me. I still believe that Lovren is an exceptional player as well. The dippers defence should be very strong next season if lovren can adapt in the 3.

I must be one of the few that would not want him. Just watch him as a team player in his next few appearances on TV.

Since he has made his name, IMO, he has gone into a 'me me me' mode - more selfish than Sturridge - and by a distance.

He seems to only be interested in him scoring a wonder goal and totally ignores so many opportunities to pass to team-mates in a much better position - mark my words and just watch him with that in mind and you will be shocked.

Not what our team are about

Can't imagine we'll stay with 3-4-3, we'll revert to four at the back at some point.

Couldn't agree more on the greedy bit. I mentioned that to Mrs Vienna last time we watched them on TV.

Perhaps he's been following Starfish's example!

The morals of an alleycat and the attitude of a wannabe gangster.

He will happily live off his own media hype than performances. Brenda talking about his contract talks will embarrass the twat.

Liverpool are like Spurs. They don't want to pay top whack in wages but when it comes time to sell they slap a huge price tag on the player.

'You want Sterling, ok that's £60M please'

If he's worth £60M, why are they trying to pay him the wages of a player worth about £10M?

Cheap cunts.

Rodger's talking sense on Sterling today.

Players can always get that windfall at about 25-28 which are the peak years. However that domino may fall soon, problem is once top young players are on top wages (see Shaw) every other promising 18 year old will want one. Look at Berahino who not only thinks he's already too big for WBA (which can be forgiven) but he's now acting like it and saying it (which is a disgrace IMO).

I think Sterling's on 30K, but so far either he or his agent find around 70K unacceptable. I don't get it, new improved deals can always be negotiated, Coutinho has just earned a performance related pay raise.

More like Rodgers talking out of his arse as per usual. He's trying to tie up an exciting young player on a long contract for peanuts. If Sterling was at another club and he wanted to sign him, he'd be telling him that the club was being disrespectful and not paying him his worth.
In today's market, Sterling is worth more than what Liverpool are offering and if Rogers and Liverpool fans are honest with themselves they would admit that too.
If Liverpool won't pay him what he's worth, there are plenty of clubs who will. Sterling has the upper hand here and Rodgers knows it. Him speaking out like this is an attempt to get support from the candle lighters.

Exactly. Rodgers is living in a world of his own. He seriously thinks that a player like Sterling will accept peanuts despite carrying the entire team this season. He's trying to get the fans to believe that he's one of the "honour to play in a Liverpool shirt" type. The reality is Sterling has a family to support and if a club offers him double what Liverpool are he will snatch their hands off like all footballers would.

Liverpool's future is probably as the new Southampton. Source cheap young foreign players and develop them alongside good homegrown ones. Then sell at a profit.

John W Henry is a commodity trader and if the price is right, he'll sell. It's risk-free or at least less risky than spending money they haven't got trying to compete with clubs like the rags and Arsenal, who can outspend them.

They have the perfect fanbase to accept such a scenario. They would never blame the owner, they'd put all the blame on "the plastic, oil rich, lottery winning, no history, no fans clubs" thus ensuring their shyster of an owner can fleece them like the Glazers are fleecing the rags, hopefully for years to come.
By the time they realise what's happening, it will be too late.
Give it another ten years and the Merseyside derby will be like the Tyne/Wear derby. Contested by teams that were great in another era.
It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of cunts.
