It's completely ridiculous that Mario isn't their first choice penalty taker. He's obviously the best penalty taker in the league. So I can see why he said "fuck this" when even Jordan Henderson decided he was ahead of him. They've got no idea whatsoever how to use him.

It's poor preparation from the manager. Rodgers should have let the squad know that if Mario is in the game he takes the kick (if Stevie G doesn't fancy it).
Gerrard was bang out of order airing his condemnation of a teammate (Mario) in public through the ITV pundit lounge.
Anyone (I'm biased) in football given a choice of Sturridge, Henderson or Balotelli to take a (pressure) penalty would choose Mario.

The world would have blamed Mario for putting extra pressure on Henderson. Has Rodgers confirmed who was supposed to be taking that penalty? If it was Henderson then Mario was wrong to do what he did regardless of anything else. However, if it was Henderson then whoever has decided that Jordan fucking Henderson gets to take important penalties ahead of Mario should be sacked for being a stupid twat.
