Offering a poor contract to their best CB just sums Liverpool up.

Sums up Skrtel more than Liverpool. He's been a part of a defense which has leaked 98 goals in 2 seasons along with scoring a few own goals himself. If I were Liverpool I'd show him the door especially after he's blabbed about his unsatisfactory contract. He should be thankful to the club for offering any sort of contract in the first place.

Milner is best in an outside center kinda position (if you know your rugby positions on the backline) bombing forwards and he will track back as you probably know.
You have got a good player here and on his day a great one.

He lacks ambition.
Exactly this. This move was about money, specifically the signing on fee. Nothing to do with where and how often he plays.

So good luck to him at Liverpool. He had some great games for us, particularly the 3-2 in Munich, and plenty of not so great ones but he'll always be welcome back. But I'd rather have a player who is more motivated to win things. Perhaps attitudes like his are the reason we've failed to defend two titles properly.

So Milner? What can you tell us about him?

Center midfielder or wide in the attacking third?

Can he step up and lift others when not around other stars? Obviously he'll be around less quality here than he was with you.

With Rodgers you never know where he'll play though. If he'd been on the team this season I imagine he'd have seen some shifts at full-back and at striker.

This is not a bad signing at all (provided it's not our only signing)--but seems he's being signed as a starter, not as a squad player.

150K per week which is interesting given Sterling's demands--maybe it's really about this "pay structure" for better or worse. That makes Milner the 2nd highest earner at the club, maybe even the joint top--Sturridge is getting about that too and this is twice what Coutinho's making.
You've signed a player who fits at least one of the following profiles:

1) Wasn't happy about not playing in his favourite position (even though it's by far his least effective, as supported by title winning managers), so left. NB - Vincent Kompany wanted to play central midfield too, but accepted his best position was centre half, strived to improve, became the best in the country for a while.

2) Wanted a big signing on fee/higher wages.

3) Wasn't happy with "only" making 45 appearances last season.

4) Feels he can't cut it at the highest level anymore.

Oh, and he gives the ball away a lot.

You won't find him shopping in Liverpool 1, he prefers browsing second hand shops for nick-knacks
