What Lawrenson meant was that at present Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool cannot afford to pay £50 million for a full back. It is undeniable that Man City can as they have done just that very recently. What's the beef with him, he's only stating the truth after all.

Full back is a red herring. Liverpool and arsenal have both spent more on single players recently than our record transfer . Spurs could spend that much on a player but choose not to

Like him or loathe him, that statement he made was a complete load of boiled bollocks ...!!!
Not completely. Apart from Spurs and Arsenal not being able to afford a £50m full back (which was bollocks, boiled or otherwise) his brief piece (which you have conspicuously failed to quote in full) was pretty spot-on, imo.

Not true, I quoted him in full this morning if you check back ... Spurs Arsenal & the dippers can all afford £50 mill for a full back, especially the arse...!

Fuck me it's SpionKnob...your team spent £75 fucking million on Dick Van Dyke so you could easily have spent it on full backs...
What the fuck is it with Scousers and Bullshit statements?

Swallowing the bullshit is more palatable to them than recognising reality.

A full back is a defender.

A centre half is a defender.

City spent £50mill on Walker.

Liverpool spent £75mill on VVD.

As of this moment, City have had the better return.

It's not that Liverpool, sorry FSG, can't spend £50mill on a full backs, they refuse to. FSG are happy to keep on limping on with a suspect defence and keeper.

Both those positions were problems for City last season. City have spent the money and solved those problems, bar a mad period 10 minutes of self destruction at Anfield when City conceded 3 goals.

You sound like an Arsenal fan, always blaming City, while the owner/s of Arsenal(and Wenger) have £100's of millions in the bank, but refuse to spend it.

But don't worry Bob, FSG will have cash in the bank come the end of the season. Sheikh Mansour will have a PL trophy.

Which would you rather see?(not that you'll see FSG's money)

I'll quote you for this.

Before you sold Courtinho, and remember, Liverpool and Klopp wanted him to stay, so the VVD transfer wasn't dependent on the Courtinho transfer money, Liverpool had spent over £150mill on player transfers this season. That's enough for 3 City full backs. Just admit it, Lawro us talking shit. And you're trying to back him up. He's just another long line of ex-player pundits who are trying to use City's spending as an accuse to cover up for the lack of spending by FSG.

Apart from that, who'd have thought, that the mighty Liverpool with and expanded Anfield, and 100's of millions of more fans around the World than City, can't compete financially with City. Liverpool are becoming like Arsenal off the pitch. Both clubs have got something in common. Owned by American Billionire Business Sporting Francise owners who don't want to spend serious money, so the club stands a real chance of winning the PL title.
