Fair
It's good to see a detailed reply, thanks. I don't have time to respond to them so I'll give it a miss and save us both the trouble as we're not going to see eye to eye on some at least. However, I'll also say that wasn't the point of my original post (as I've explained elsewhere), I wasn't on about owners with respect to their own clubs, but the impact of those owners on the English game. Looking back I didn't explain that properly so it's no wonder the point was missed. It'll probably come up again sometime so I'll leave it for now.

Fair enough, I realised this from your later posts but I had already written this so posted anyway. I worry about most of the current breed of owners and the long term impact on the game but unfortunately there seems to be little that can be done other than choosing to support a team outside of the top divisions.

Exactly - you never want an opponent know you can be rattled or mind games become fair game from then on. But do you think it is a coincidence that City were all at sea in the first 30 minutes of that tie, yet have been equal or better than Liverpool in every other head to head game over the past 3 seasons (including the remainder of that CL tie)?
The incident 100% affected the players in that game.

In hindsight, Pep should have told FIFA we were refusing to play, stating that Liverpool's inability to control their fans had affected our players and given their team an unfair advantage.

I am getting tired of this ....
I'll try and be as humble as possible with this post as I seem to have had a couple pulled on this thread which to be honest in my opinion were not aggressive, just football banter really. Anyway I've not been posting long and I don't want to upset the resident Mod.. I've been a City fan since the early 70's. many on here for a lot longer. We are all passionate about our club and I for one am sick and tired of having our club's name rubbished by opposing fans who are allowed to post on here and are afforded plenty of slack to spout their crap.. It's funny how the human rites stick that our guest Mr Start2Finish is waving about wasn't mentioned at all since the takeover in 2008 until his team suddenly looked like they had a chance of winning the league.. It's not fair, it's not fair , they're owned by a country, they can spend what they want, £50M on fullbacks and they've about 6 of them.. Yawn, Yawn, Yawn.. You've not got a bad team, you've won a few games, You're top of the league after 6 games (only 32 left) but what you know and we all know on this forum is that we are just that little bit better.
Enjoy the ride... Hope I've not stressed anyone out!

Please consider me stressed ;-)

Klavan cost €5m as a 4th choice centre back, played 39 games over the course of just over 2 seasons and was sold for £2m with the emergence of Gomez.

Grujic was signed for £5.1m at age 21 and has since been on loan. Estimates of value in summer range from £25-40m

Solanke cost £3m and was sold 18 months later for £18m.

None of these 3 can be argued as being a waste of money at all.

The other 3 are more debatable.

Keita cost around £55m and so far has been under whelming. Injuries cost him when he finally looked to be settling into place, but with many years left in his contract, and with the talent he has, he remains a question mark in terms of value.

Shaqiri cost £13.5m and has had limited game time as back up to the front 3, although did score the winners against united. Again, given the limited fee and the intended role as backup, I would argue he has been neutral in terms of value. Neither best, nor a waste.

Karius on the other hand....... An unmitigated disaster. Leaving aside his performance in the CL final, which may or may not have been affected by concussion, he was poor throughout most of the season and never convincing. In fairness he was considered to be the 2nd best keeper in the bundesliga before we signed him, for £4.75m, but still, a total disaster and waste of money.

If these are the worst signings of klopp that you can think of, particularly in light of the successes, I can rest easily with that.
None of them could hold down a starting berth tbf so irrespective of what they were sold for they were mistakes or wastes aren’t they?

The total cost of all the players you've listed there, bar Keita, is £25m. and I'm excluding him because he's the only player who we've bought as a potential starter, and still are hopeful of him coming good.

Klavan cost £2m ffs :D
So you exclude Keita cos it’s convenient? Okay. Klopp bought em all and none were good enough so that seems wasteful/poor business.

Tbf I was just responding to a post suggesting Klopp hasn’t had failings in the transfer market.

Liverpool, a capitalist’s dream....
