Liverpool thread 2019/20

Since I don't really post in here I'll state at the outset that I'm a Liverpool fan.

However I'm not really sure if it'd make much difference to my thoughts in that I believed last season both City and Liverpool would have traded titles/trophies/whatever anyone wants to name them.

For most big clubs the CL seems to be the priority. However I remember our last league winning team/squad and we've never had a team with the consistency to take that final step to winning the league. Simply because of the time passed since our last league title I would have preferred to have won the PL last year and would prioritise it this year if it came to that.

On the other hand if City focus on the CL they have at least as good a chance of anyone else of winning it. If you play to your best there aren't many teams that could keep up with you. Ironically your issue this year seems to be the consistency that we've suffered with (before anyone complains I fully aware between the gulf in quality between your squad and the vast majority of ours over the past 30 years so I'm just generalising and not saying it's the exact same thing).

Without trying to sound condescending when you win the CL (and I believe you will at some stage in the next few years) you can then decide which you prefer.

Likewise it's been so long since I've seen Liverpool win the league it'll be like a new feeling for all of us (if we win. Until it's no longer mathematically possible I can't allow myself to hope or dream too much having been burnt too many times over the years) and so I imagine it will be the exact same situation as when you win the CL.

I'm certain that members of both teams will prefer one over the other and not exactly agree with each other but that's just part of the reason we all love this game.

Of course I do not have any ideas of what any of you would prefer but in my opinion you've just won the PL twice with truly ridiculous stats and with an exceptional style of playing. You'd won the league before Pep came in. I always figured he was here to take you to next step in Europe.

I can't imagine too many of you here will be that upset at the end of the season if Liverpool have won the league but you go on to win the CL.

-disclaimer: I'm wrong about many, many things so please go easy I'd I am just coming across as an idiot.
And just in case it is another few years until I post again a very belated Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

Glenn

Decent post for a Dipper , usually find the fans who have followed them since the Dalglish era and prior are the more sensible and you can actually discuss football matters and jointly enjoy the demise of the Rags , unfortunately posters like Glenn are a rarity , its about a 10,000 to one chance of finding a decent Dipper.

Welcome. I'll be gutted, even of we win the CL, but I'll put a brave face on it and pretend that means more than the league.

Agree with much of your post, apart from the odds, which are slightly on the harsh side! They do have a higher proportion of nobs than any other club, though.

I know a couple of long term Anfield season ticket holding mates who I’ll be genuinely made up for, but that will be more than counterweighted by the puke-Inducing reaction of the majority of their fan base, as well as the media - and by some measure.

Buckle up, it’s going to be horrible.

And welcome @schmee

Not just Sheff or United. Also Ancelotti Napoli beat Liverpool in BOTH home and away in CL group stage (okay, a 2-1 and a 1-1, still Dippers just can't win Napoli), plus Nap beat them last time 3-0 too in Friendlies. Credit to Ancelotti though.
So yeah, this fu-cker cnut Dippers aren't unbeatable like how them or the media blow them up to be.

The problem with such a big lead is they can afford to lose games in order to rotate for the CL and Fa cup, I’m hoping Madrid and Everton turn them over because if they win back to back CL and the league, you think they are unbearable now you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Liverpool fan here. Just wanted to say a lot of the stuff you guys say about their fan base can really be trundled down to a combination of isolated fans and the fact that the extremists are the most vocal ones on social media. The bus attack, I haven’t met a single Liverpool fan who was either involved or thought it was acceptable. I don’t think it’s acceptable. But to be judged based on what the minority does is and always has been pretty dangerous thinking.

Ill give you an example. About 5 years ago a bunch of Chelsea fans booed during the Hillsborough minute of silence. Going by that, would it be fair if I concluded all Chelsea fans were like that? PSG could claim every single Chelsea fan was racist after that Paris train incident. Just making the point that idiots will exist in any fanbase, and it feels a bit harsh that I come on here just to see how city fans view the season and get all kinds of derogatory language because I support a direct rival that happens to be playing and doing well.

Don't forget GDM there are 500m Dippers , if my maths is correct , not the best with a Henessy hang over ,thats 500k , decent ones , i might have underestimated :)

You're the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police and I claim my £5..!

I've been bitter myself to Liverpool the past couple of years, however if they won the treble what would happen to united fans it is the one thing they have over everyone else. I dunno if I could stomach it, never been arsed about the scousers as we weren't rivals for most of my life until recent years, doesn't help that we never beat them at Anfield like. Going to be an interesting 5 months ahead.
