Klopp and his players are ridiculous, saying that the challenges weren’t accidents and Pickford knew what he was doing. “It hurts even more that they aren’t punished” Wijnaldum says, c’mon.

I don’t remember any punishment for Trent when he put Sané out for the season.

Or how about Virgil’s tackle on Mertens where only a miracle prevents Mertens’ ankle from snapping in half? Virgil said “that’s football”

Forever victims.

Looking at their fixture list, they should be able to coast to a win against Sheffield United this weekend, West Ham afterwards could cause them problems but then they play us. whether they drop more points before then or not, we need to go for the jugular in that game, we should hopefully have our key players back by then and Aguero should be upto speed, we need to show the league how vulnerable they are at the back with a statement win, something similar to the last game we played only this time it will have some actual meaning.

Sounds like the scans did not go well -

David Ornstein: “It’s my understanding that the damage to Virgil van Dijk’s right knee is perhaps worse than initially expected and extends beyond the ACL.” [The Athletic]
Not 100% surprising that other ligaments would have been damaged, the one they really really do not want to be damaged is the PCL. Very hard to do a successful surgery on the PCL.

Would probably put his time out to more like 12 months too instead of 9.

Trevor Sinclair suggested that might be the case this morning. He said with it being an impact injury the surrounding tissue and bone will likely be damaged,as opposed to a twist which would have likely isolated the ACL.

It's quite rare to tear your ACL when the knee is straight, like Van Dijk's was, which is probably testament to just how devastating having 90kg of Mackem throw their full weight into your standing leg.

I'll be surprised if they can find the inner strength to even play the game.

Under the circumstances they should probably just be awarded the 3 points without having to play. It's not really fair that they have to still play, with the trauma of one of their players being injured still fresh in their minds. None of them slept a wink the night after it happened apparently. I'm getting emotional just typing this.

At his age when he gets back he won’t be the same player and klopp probably be gone by then.
