Yep. Hopefully a minority of idiots, but still, people on there tend to forget that footballers are human beings. Yes, even the ones we don't like.Where on Twitter?
The majority of Liverpool fans I encounter online aren't even British, let alone Scouse. Fucking plastic glory hunters who genuinely believe Everton have never won any trophies, and I'd be amazed if any of them even know who Bob Paisley is. Or Steve Heighway (my mum's favourite). They do have a hardcore support of fans no doubt about that and they do carry a certain air of being a proper terrace club with vocal fans but beyond that they're just a product much like Utd and much the same as we will be in 10 to 20yrs from now. Followed by men who supported them as kids for glory who've got no interest or connection to the heart of the club which has become nothing more than a selling point for the product.
Enhanced by a media that bigs them up at every opportunity, talked about for being a proper working class football team in contrast to the state owned clubs as though to suggest this makes them more deserving of glory. All the while ignoring the elephant in the room that is the owners of that media love in being as opposite to that heart as you could possibly get. Holding up banners that say never trust a Tory is commendable as I fucking hate Tories yet they're championed by a media that's never and never will have any invested interest in the working class communities of Liverpool.
They've got some decent fans. I've met them both. But they live in a dreamland if they're to purpose their fan base is made of loyal locals who will travel the overpriced public transport a proper core base of working class lads could not afford as opposed to being followed by absolute glory hunting nonces. They're Man Utd with scouse accents that's all.
