Very clever timing with the extension......they were already at full steam ahead, this has just took their momentum to another level.

Cant stand the arrogant fuckers, but what Klopp is building has to be admired.

Then when he does leave it will just continue with his assistant, the Dutch guy, who is just an extension of him and indoctrinated into the Klopp philosophy.

They won't run with an aging squad, they are already bringing in updates like Diaz and Konate. Their weakness, if you can call it that, is in midfield and I would expect new signings for there in the next two or three windows.

They buy very shrewdly and that is as important as Klopp managing. It's not about buying big names like Ronaldo or Pogba with them, it's about buying the right players who can adapt and benefit the team.

Pep needs to stay, otherwise it will be somebody like Pochettino and I don't believe he would deliver, I really don't. Do you want to be at a level where you're hoping/playing for a top four position, because I know what I would prefer?

Theyve got some depth on that bench when the likes of Firminho or either Jota and Diaz are options to change it. They have got a rebuild on as a few of their players are reaching the wrong side of 30, they could move Salah on and pick 3 more players up for £40 million a piece and integrate them into the system. They have a way of recruiting and it’s clearly working for them.

Of course Pep needs to stay, but even he has to take note, change and adapt from time to time. He gets bogged down with over managing and going into this season without a striker - for whatever reason (and yes a shiny new Haaland would be nice next season), has to some extent aided and abetted this quad high possibility. I wonder if all the moral sentimentalists and rest experts will still be defending the FA semi team selection after the game in Paris, if Liverpool are parading the quad cups.

I don't think it's a given that Lijnders would be a success if he took over. There's plenty of examples of good assistant managers failing when they take over the reigns. Not that it really matters, as it's few years yet before they have to make that decision. Obviously Klopp extending is a boost for them (as it will be for us when Guardiola extends again here), but I don't think it will have any impact on this season as some have suggested.

I think he won't. Origi is going but they are still to heavy up front. No way the yanks are paying wages for 2 strikers to be on the bench all season.
It would be a mistake,Mane is only half the player without Salah assists,in fact Salah has as many assists as Mane goals 13 to 14 and Mane has only 2 assists.
It's easy to see who is the most valuable of their front players.

I know where you are coming from. Yet to do it the dippers need to break their wage structure massively

Yeah absolutely, either way it will have a huge impact.
Give in to his wage demands and it will dramatically alter their squad wage bill going forward, let him go and on the field they will be considerably weakened.
Hopefully it will be the latter.

I am mostly impressed with Pep's ability to adapt. When he left Barcelona he was all about posession. He had some problems with fast, direct play in Germany, but a couple of years later he'd adapted the defense and managed to incorporate some fast, direct attacking in to his own team.

When he moved to England, he was hell bent on playing from the back. But after being punished by high pressing, he adapted and now City will play that ball behind the first press when the situation is right.

About Pep's overthinking, maybe there is something to it. But then again, I don't remember people complaining when he came out with a back five and beat Liverpool a couple of years back. It's easy to cherry pick the bad parts and over analyze.
