Reading the last few pages and going through the media again I must confess to agreeing with many about the general content and tone of comments regarding this title run in. However, I got to wondering why this was.

Contrary to the general tone on here, which if i was trying to be a WUMMER, I would suggest was almost playing the LiVARpool victim card, I dont actually think it is a bias in the media. I think it is the bigger thing of a media that no longer simply reports the news, but instead tries to make it and direct it.

It is almost asif the whole media has become like Talksport, say something controversial to get a response, big up another club or manager, highlight quotes simply to create more angst , rivalry and general dislike/hate........... Click bait ahoy!....... and sell more content, advertising space and get more callers tpo justify their existence.

Yes, this existed on a smaller scale throughout the years but looking back I wondered if it started with Ferguson and was then amplified by the beats that has become the Premier league. Fergie started the needle, the "mind games" and then along came the likes of Wenger, Dalglish, Mourinho etc to bring about these rivalries (shades of Clough/Revie, which the media lapped up and perhaps shaped the way things have now become).

The fact is City have been ahead everyone else for the last 10years or so with the odd blip. The media and the premier league dont want that and so will do their utmost to big up anyone to create a story. Going on about us being the best team , best defenders etc, there is a case of boosting morale of the players but it doesnt cover the fact that you lot have won a damn sight more and it is for us to challenge and push you. This whole quad thing is the perfect example. City are champions, they are top of the league by a point and the title is in your hands. You are in the ECL semi and have a great chance to reach consecutive finals. Simply reporting that is safe and does nothing to create the rivalry and antagonism.

Personally I take pleasure in the simple excitement of the run in being so close and whatever way it goes it will have been another great season, perhaps not as wonderful for me if it stays as it is...but a damn sight more exciting than it looked in January.

Yesterday then,2 quick questions.

Was Milner's err tackle or lunge,free kick or not ?

Mane catching the keeper high (yet again) should of been punished or unpunished ?

so remember, currently, the greatest manager and team ever, ever, is averaging a trophy every 2 years, and far surpasses the single year equivalent achievement of Joe Fagan’s bunch of fakes…

Milners was not a tackle as I saw it. He "lunged" in and won the ball after getting there first. The Newcastle player got there second and clearly kicks Milners foot/ankle injuring himself in the process...well thats how i saw it. No foul, nothing to see and therefore no question of it beign chalked off.

As for Mane, I actually think he got lucky. First watch, I thought nothing of it, second watch clear foul on keeper, third watch actually thought it looked abit naughty and perhaps deliberate. Thought it was fair game to go for but then perhaps could and should have pulled out.

Yeah, that’s pretty much how I saw it. Milner’s wasn’t a foul but Mane was lucky not to see red for that.

Fair enough -you’re first answer was what I expected you to say,I can’t call it really,but it led to the goal which to me causes a few mins of controversy

And you’re answer to the Mane challenge was what I expected you to say as well really,as there was no action taken and it didn’t lead to a goal or anything like that.

So to summarise no Milner foul,and Mane was deliberate,but that can give you a wry smile as he wasn’t punished,yet again.

Unfortunately that is the future for the PL, they actively welcome and encourage it with Abu Dhabi and now the Saudi’s. They had an opportunity with this supposed investigation to punish the cheating bastards, but seem to be dragging their heels looking for a way to do fuck all about it.
Lance Armstrong eventually got punished, we just have to hope the same happens to the sportswashing cheats.

City should actually still be banned from the Champions League, they were caught, got off on a technicality and not once do BT ever remind us of the fact that the team who made the 2021 final and are in the 2022 semis shouldn't even be playing in it - you can be 100% certain if it was us, it would be constantly spoken about by both the media and fans.

This lot cheat in public, they openly laugh about it, they don't give a fuck and neither do the PL or UEFA. They have to bring in "fans" for CL games because they can't sell out, they fake their commercial revenue, they are a small club that cheats and the sad thing is, they will never be stopped, the game is dirty at the top.

I don't watch their games. They might as well not exist. Nobody I know talks about them except as a blockage on our way to the title.

I'd call it a silent boycott but I'm not arsed enough. A team of literal mercenaries bought with literal dirty money.

It’s just a shame we have to compete with them. This Liverpool team deserves better than to have to compete with a cheating, state-owned, financial doping sportswashing project.
Not just so they win more trophies, we famously went nearly 30 years without the title and not once did any fans think about giving up on football. For me football is as much about the journey than the titles, and what a fucking journey we are on. A rivalry is fine, it’s healthy , but not when that rivalry is with known cheats. It must be fucking horrible for the players knowing they are having to compete with the biggest cheats the sport has ever known.
That’s the thing - even if they do win league and champions league they’ll still be cry arsing about how the media is talking about Liverpool and Man Utd.

The cheat thing is my favourite. There’s one club we know haven’t cheated. It’s the one that’s been cleared in the highest court possible.

Just wait till there is enough American owners in the premier so they can make proposals like a top four play off for the title and a reduced Premier with no relegation!

The delusion / desperation in the comments are exactly what the media thrives on. Keep feeding that delusion / desperation and watch the clicks rocket and advertising revenue roll in. Ultimately an extremely toxic, dangerous and potentially fatal game being played out.
