But what your suggesting is that regardless of what's actually taken place, people should show respect if they're told to do so. Where does that end? Dissenters in Nazi Germany speaking out in protest agains the Fuhrer would have been seen as disrespectful there, yet I applaud anyone who was brave enough to do so. Being told to be respectful to a rich man being given a crown isn't quite Nazi Germany but if respect is respect and it's irrelevant to my views then nobody should ever voice dissent about any issue which they see as unjust.
Time and Place are the salient points.

I agree, and if they're to hold 'events' such as that at football matches then it's the absolutely perfect time and place to voice discontent. The anthem and all the rest of it shouldn't have been a part of the games yesterday, that they were allowed people to voice their views which is fine.

In your opinion.

Let's face it the majority of people in that ground yesterday were probably not English or see themselves as English or even british

My view to that is regardless of what actually happened, people lost their lives and grave dancing isn't my thing. As with the Queen's death, she's someone I had zero time for but feel it's appropriate to at least allow others to pay respects for that sort of thing. A rich man being given a crown just isn't the same, it's a farce in every sense. If people still wish to support that then go ahead but I'm quite happy there's still a sane element of the public who wish to boo the fuck out of it.

It's meaningful to a plurality of the country. Imagine not being able to contain your disrespect for others by shutting the fuck up for a minute.

The Dippers are a disgrace. They'll boo the anthem and hold celebratory street parties on the anniversary of Heysel, but demand nothing but the highest respect for Hillsborough. It's all about them and the rest of us don't matter.

Exactly. That's what this is all about. People who hold completely opposite opinions. And given that it's not about marking people's deaths but about someone being given a crown, it's fine to either support it, silently respect it, or be angry and let your feelings known about it. There is no issue here.

Put up and shut up about absolutely everything. That's where we are is it? Nobody ever protest, peacefully if vocally. Just shut up. United Kingdom 2023.

Must be easy to win arguments when you just make up what others are saying.

You can absolutely protest without being disrespectful to others, you can't seem to process there's a time and a place. You think the Dippers booing the anthem made anyone on the fence a Republican? Or just made them look like the hypocritical, self-centred gobshites they really are?
