Wrong. Hibs fans held banners dissenting the whole event. Motherwell and Kilmarnock fans joined in "shove your coronation up your arse". Not just dipperland at all, I'm dismayed that so many people in other places didn't feel brave enough to voice dissent about it when they had the chance. People doing what they're told in fear of being piled on for not obeying their masters.
For fuck's sake Braveheart, it's not through fear, it's about HAVING RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS AND BELIEFS.

How can't you see this?

Recently, a member of my extended family died. He hated me. His direct family hated me. To be perfectly honest I didn't have a great deal of respect for any of them as a result of how they had treated me in my adult life. Despite all this hatred, I was invited to the funeral.

Did I go and cause a scene?

No, I didn't.

I respectfully declined the invitation and got on with my day so as not to cause offence to them ON THEIR DAY.

Now, I know you'll trot out some, "that's different, somebody had died" bollocks, but it's not.

It's about having respect for other people and what they might want.

Did the scousers respect what the Brentford fans might have wanted? No they fucking didn't, they made it all about what they wanted. As fucking usual.

Disagree with that. It’s personal choice whether to sing it or not. England football shouldn’t use GTSK as the national anthem anyway. It should be a song about the country not the royal family. Other sports use different songs and football should do the same. Pick a song that everyone can get behind not just half.

Having said that GTSK on the day of the coronation was appropriate and gave those that support the king the chance to show their support and the rest the opportunity to have a bit longer in the bar.

Agree why hasnt England got a National Anthem ?

I looked at the decline of the North in the 80s as a positive and have never regretted moving away at all. Unlike Manchester where I believe the city and it's people moved on, a lot of scousers languish in this anger ridden sentimentality which only reinforces the victims mentality. If you challenge them on it they accuse you of being a plastic scouser/ woolyback etc.
I lived in Westgate on Sea for a few years and parts of Thanet could certainly give areas of the north a run for their money. Most seaside towns are impoverished for many reasons, Brighton in the 80s was a good example and look at it now. Here in Bournemouth a lot of the crime in the 80s and 90s was usually involving scousers.

Westgate on sea, you were posh lol

The point I'm making is that Arnold wasn't,Henderson was, they are both part of the England set up,and it is the national anthem, which is sang when on duty.

Yesterday was an historic day, that rightly or wrongly should be adhered to especially if you are British.

If flower of Scotland was being played it would have been belted out,so I'm not taking any history lessons from any Scotch on here neither,(not that you are Scotch).

But this song you speak about that we all should be able to get behind, what are your suggestions ?

Timmy Malletts -Yellow polka dot bikini or somert like that ?

So the scousers expect everybody else to observe the Hillsborough minute silence but the rats won't respect the national anthem.

This 100% moan like fuck if fans sing 'always the victims' yet they think it's ok to boo our National Anthem. Cant have it both ways.

I worked in Margate to keep my standards down. Kent was a county that was massively overlooked by the government- ideal place for investment - airport at Manston empty, Eurotunnel, Dover port. Yet areas of it seemed very poor, like you say it wasn't just the North that was neglected. Kent seemed quite right wing politically and I remember Farage having an office in Ramsgate

The state of this thread.

Energy companies charging the public a fortune while making record profits. Politicians of almost every party fiddling public resources. Everyone raising prices of everything because they can, banks doing whatever they feel like, the public sector downing tools and generally so much out there to be upset about or protest over (if that's your thing).

But yes booing the national anthem at a football game, on the day of an inevitable change of personnel in a 300+ year old institution that's separate to it all, is really this brave act of admirable rebellion and revolutionary spirit.

Get the fuck in the bin.

Haha, except it's you who's missing the entire point. I'm all for respecting others opinions and beliefs. If you or anyone wish to pay respect to a monarchy then go ahead and do so, I respect that, I also respect those of differing views who wish to boo fuck out of it. It's me who understands that respect is a two way street here, not you. Did Brentford fans respect what the scousers wanted? No they fucking didn't.
