Unlike some, I'm not writing off their season just yet. It's way too early for that.

What I will say is that I've just watched the highlights of last night's game and I was gobsmacked at not just how poor they looked but the lack of intensity from some of their players, and moreso the lack of effort. Every team in the world can have an off day that results in a heavy defeat but if you don't put the effort in in the first place then that's unforgiveable. Gomez was dog shit but when he was getting dispossessed there was no real intent from the likes of van Dick or Terence Trent D'arby to retrieve the situation. They were just stood around like statues for some of the goals and while Napoli played well, they were effectively just passing it round the Liverpool players at times. In the lead up to the 4th goal, van Dick made a pathetic half-arsed attempt to get back. It was a jog rather than a sprint.

While I buy into the theory that Klopp does indeed run his players into the ground which can result in them having a good season followed by a mediocre season, there's no way that those players were so knackered that they couldn't put more of an effort in.

Given their injuries and the fact they struggled vs Newcastle and Everton and had to run a lot in these games, it's not a big surprise they were a bit flat vs Napoli. IIRC, they lost at Napoli 2:0 when they won the CL in 2019. Wouldn't be a big surprise if they had problems vs Wolves and then Ajax. Too many games for a team that is not in a top physical condition and allows end to end football.

We were also a bit average vs Villa, we just wanted to control the game and avoid making it end to end in order to save energy. Liverpool couldn't do that vs Newcastle and Everton and paid the price at Napoli.

Well to think a few short weeks ago they were celebrating the Community Shield victory with pratically an open top bus parade. Haaland was labelled crap and Nunez the new messiah.
Fuck these horrible scouse twats, I hope Klopp eats himself to death with his big teeth, he ends up getting the sack and Big Sam takes over.
Fuckers
They've gone from open top bus to open top coffin.

@Alan Harper's Tash I wasn't commenting on the Napoli fans, I said I know they are not angels.
My point is how the media and then Domalino were making it out that a private school were taking some boys to a football match and they should be jolly careful.
Liverpool fans have caused problems for 30 years in Europe, rampaging mobs clearing out jewellers, smashing concrete slabs on waiters heads, robbing their own fans of tickets for the final, fighting their way through Europe like it was 1945 but perhaps its best if you stay in your hotel.
Oh and as a final note, I was there last time we played, without a hint of trouble.

It is genuinely incredible the amount of bullshit and lies you manage to spout.

No one claimed Liverpool fans were angels or private school boys, No one mentioned Liverpool fans behaviour at all so to say it was implied is just a barefaced lie.

I posted an incomplete list of Napoli fans attacking and stabbing other fans, and suggested Liverpool were right to warn their fans, just like city did when playing in Naples.

You thengot angry that I’d highlighted stabbings and attacks where people hadn’t died to make a point about Naples not being safe.

And then you claimed Liverpool had only warned their fans to act as a smoke screen to cover up their own fans crimes ahead of time.

What is wrong with you? No mentally well person could take issue with a club warning its fans about their safety when going to a city the has seen dozens of opposition fans stabbed.

The fact that you completely ignore the fact City gave exactly the same warning really just sums it up.

Asthma treatment well and truly wearing off this season isn't it. They looked a lot better once Thiago was on the pitch but the lack of intensity in their pressing, because they're all fucking burnt out still, means it's easier to play through and expose their defence. They're a million miles off being a top team technically, they're just one hell of a side physically and their game is centred on quick balls forwards and winning the ball back high up the pitch. Mane is a huge loss, Salah looks like a man who has played every minute of every game for three seasons and they'll be fighting to stay in the top 4. Luckily with Ajax and Rangers in their group they'll advance still, but this is their "off" season which no one will judge them on and then the inhalers will pump them back to competitiveness in 2023/24.
