If it came across as racist, I'm sorry. Btw have you seen the Athletic article? The commenters seem to think City are actually owned by the UAE.

Aldridge is such a ****. Liverpool are rolling in money, they need to quit with the 'we're poor little penniless underdogs' bullshit. They certainly love lording over us what a big club they are.
No, not at all, i didnt think you were....well not intentionally anyway, but i often read tweets and posts that claim City are owned by Saudis which are blatantly racist

I was born a year after, but I've never lacked perspective where regards this issue, people died, and it's not on to chant about it, at all. - That being said, their club actively provoking a response from these types of fans and then crying wolf is the biggest concern, I'd imagine.
You can’t say the former, put ‘having said that’, and almost insinuate that they somehow deserve it. Fine, call them scouse ragged scum - but the line is that we don’t sing it. If we do, we take the punishment. No shifting the blame to them as that then makes us as bad as the vermin. CTID

What riles me to the core is that bullshit about how rags and vermin ‘earned their money’. Ticket sales, trophy winnings, the selling of moth eaten (and then thrown back up again) match day shirts can’t have contributed that much to glazer pockets. Meanwhile Pep slaves away for his 5th Premier League title; and the only reaction from outside ears is the vulgar sound of Marty Tyler, gargling from the mouth as he masterbates over the Bangkok shield. Pathetic. At least he doesn’t spit it over children driving at 40mph ey. CTID

Although I'd consider myself more leaning towards socialism I can see a few issues when this is applied in the context of supporting a team based on this principle, as Liverpool appear to do.

In the football sense it means anyone who wins something they don't is some kind of of oppressor. They're being denied something based on inequality. But in the football sense this doesn't apply because every single team who can afford the wages of a Halaand, a Ronaldo, a Neymar or a Salah; is a capitalist.

This is when the logic of their ethos falls flat. They aren't the oppressed they want to be, but acting in this way gives them their sense of who they are and contributes to their atmosphere. They worship the team and players giving them hero status for purely existing against what they see is the oppressor.

In this type of society the media propaganda machine would be against them if it were capitalist owned. But this same media gives them their voice and is on their side. So they aren't the oppressed, they are a tool of the oppressors whilst simultaneously feeling like they are...oppressed.

Imagine the level of cognitive dissonance experienced by the average red scouser. And you've got yourself there the perfect candidate for a complete breakdown of what is your experience of reality versus truth.

Not entirely relevant, but just had to post this…this feels like the ideal place
