Probably still there but it’s nowhere near Scotland.

I really hope it doesn’t creep in down here.
The good thing about England is that atheism is massively growing and many atheists look upon religious people as nutcases. The thought of getting involved in religious sectarianism (even if it’s mostly political) is laughable to me as an atheist, I feel a bit sorry for people who still cling on to that backwards old-fashioned kind of thing.

Weh weh wehhhh, we're going to be losing our goalkeeper and probably Gueye and a few others as well. Everyone's got players going off to the WC, City included. Liverpool aren't the only ones.
If we had a competent england manager then pickford wouldn't be getting on the pitch.

I don’t think it’s actually religion, the sectarians just use Catholic vs Protestant to describe their Irish vs British nationalism.

Where you are right is that nobody in England gives a flying fuck if your background is Catholic or Protestant and generally speaking the Irish are now seen positively here, it’s why we have the least amount of this nonsense.

When I was growing up in Manchester, I didn't have the faintest idea what religion our neighbours were. Why would I care? No skin off my nose what deity they chose to follow. Schoolfriends would have been catholic, obviously, with me going to catholic schools. But it was hardly a topic of rapt conversation on a monday morning. "Oi, Dave; did you go to communion yesterday?" Er; no.

I just about remember it being a bit of an issue, not much but a bit.

By the time I was an adult it was gone and nobody cared.

I'm English by birth but half Irish (and some other stuff). My Mum always said as a city fan we should support Rangers as Celtic n Utd had a connection. As I grew up I realised it was all bullshit and I stopped my affinity for Rangers. I'd be closer to Celtic politically thesedays but for me it would be Man City first, religion after. So any team that had a connection to Utd I'd be against, as it where. But I'm actually not sure how true the Celtic/Utd connection even is if I'm honest?
