Crowning someone king on the basis of hereditary privilege definitely isn't.That's democracy for you
That's why it's wrong and that's why people shouldn't respect it.

Because, as I said, it represents the establishment. Are you suggesting it doesn’t?If that was the case, why are the dippers booing GSTK seeing as its several governments that are at fault.
There is not much space for the centre ground these days. The country has been split apart by tribal politics. This doesn't usually end well.:)
People who agree with you are sane and people who don't agree with you presumably aren't? Not sure there is much point discussing respect with someone who has that basic principle.
Anyway, just for the record, I am not a monarchist, particularly, but I try to be a decent human being. Not much of a thing these days, but I am old .....
spot on, why are so shit scared to stand up for ourselves and have done with this ridiculous privilege....ii mean its like awarding the lottery to the same family each week! utter nonsenseCrowning someone king on the basis of hereditary privilege definitely isn't.

Close call but I probably hate Thatcher more. Paisley was a decent man, Emlyn was a total cnut !!I bet you hate the 1 in the middle less
this is what we should be protesting about, arresting people for having a placard in the hands. Slippery slope. in all of these places such as the met they have massive portraits of the monarch on the wall. makes joining an establishment like that problematic for many. You end up with a tribe / cult - which a lot of people tar Liverpool with on here so what's the answer, try and create a fair inclusive society...like a republic may be?Got no problem with them booing the national anthem and wish more would do the same. They're making a protest about an archaic relic and without those protests nothing will ever change.
The fact that the Met saw fit to arrest and detain republican demonstrators yesterday says it all to me - absolutely disgusting
I agree everyone has the right to free thought, and for me the right to question it and think that the current model is shit and backwardFor me, because it remains part of the identity of this country which can be traced back over a thousand years.
You can't choose your family, nor the place you are born, but you can still find pride in all that it stands for and the many components that make this country a place to live in which many people die trying to get here.
Did he really sign up for the queen? or to see the world, learn a trade have a laugh, protect mates? just a genuine question i think all the above aside from queenie is fair. I mean tbh they wouldn't put your dad out f he was on fire tbh, his mates would. Maybe he would have ran around protected an unelected extremely wealthy lady but then again maybe notIm the same, I take nothing from the royal family - neither pride nor distain - but I respectfully keep my mouth shut for those who do.
My dad was in the military for over 25 years and in his mind he fought for his queen - how can I not at least keep my thoughts to myself when appropriate and respect ppl like that, who put their lives on the line for us.
