Liverpool Thread - 2023/24

There are 2 posts, out of 110, in that which claim it might be about Hillsborough.

Most of it is lots of posts calling both sets of fans scum, cunts etc, in general. Which happens on any thread about them really. A few discussing whether anything was chanted at all, or if it could be heard. There are a few posts not explicitly questioning the claim of the article, if you really want to cling to that. There is more than 10% in there arguing it is not about Hillsborough, so your waving of the less than 2% there is a bit pointless.

I'm not going to engage with anyone who read that thread and thinks only 2 posts were about the song being about Hillsborough.

One of the most dishonest comments I've ever seen on this website.

Fuck's sake. You two have made me read through all that drivel now. Damn you both :)

I always point this out when people deny it's got anything to do with Hillsborough.

The Bluemoon thread from the day it was first sung by United fans. Everyone thinks it's about Hillsborough, everyone thinks it's disgraceful.

Surprisingly, this incident and that thread passed me by at the time. Then I just realised that I was on holiday in Corfu that weekend.

What I would say is that it wasn't the first time that United fans had sung it - it was kicking around the season before as well. However, the timing of singing it on that particular weekend following the publication of the Hillsborough disaster report a few days earlier was idiotic.

Probably about as dishonest as trying to use a thread of reactions to an article from 11 years ago as 'proof' the song is about Hillsborough. And claiming 'everyone' thinks it, when there are clearly people arguing otherwise.

There's absolutely nothing dishonest about posting a thread from the time the song first got national attention to point out that the overwhelming response on bluemoon at the time - before City fans started singing it - was that it was a scummy song to sing.

The problem here is that you want to believe in a myth that the song was completely fine and respectable and then Liverpool and their fans gaslit the world into thinking it was about Hillsborough. Unfortunately for you, that's a complete lie, and you can see from the over 100 comments in that thread that people think it's scumbag behaviour.

Well if it is true....which it probably is...I hope they make an example of them...knobs

I am a bit to thick to post links but if you google the guardian they are reporting that they were singing the chants as suggested. I did manage to copt and paste this from their site.
"Manchester United condemned the anti-Liverpool chant of "Always the victims, it's never your fault" sung during Saturday's 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford."

Once again they show their class.

Classless C**ts.

Irony - those red tw@ts have been milking their victim tag for over 50 years.

Wonder if there will be anything in the MUEN?

Hope liverpool smash them in next weekend cluelees slime

Glad to see that Guardian article. The rags do alot of tasteless chanting and it's about time they were picked up on it. So far nobody's had the balls to run big with it.

it happened , united issued a statement as well , when a friend who supports united told me it was only started by a minority then what confused me is why not the rest of the public shut them down? I mean if majority were against such chants then they could have simply silenced those chanting it , Pathetic to be honest

Classy fans ey? After everything thats gone on this week, should be ashamed,, shameful.

I agree with you i bet sky dont do report on these sick chants at the swamp

Did anyone expect any less from the scum. The levels of hypocrisy, heaven forbid anyone may even utter the word of their tragedy, yet everyone elses - even russian submariners - are fair game for them.

clueless idiots.

And yet if someone even mentions Munich they're up in arms. Bunch of vile cunts the lot of them.

And the thick twats wonder why other supporters cheered when we won the Title last season. Hated by every other club supporter in the land, let any fans start singing about 1958 and they are all up in arms well they can all fuck off, shit fans, shit ground and fucking great owners bleeding them dry :)

We always knew they were scum. They'll all be getting their 96 tattoos as we speak.

to do this after the week that has passed and their manager saying this nonsense has to stop says everything about them. Honestly they are the most classless fans in the country and are lucky the media protects alot of their sh!t

Neither shocked or surprised. It's the scum we are talking about here. The lowest of the low.

2 comments you said.

What happened between then, when everyone thought it was heinous and now when people want to rewrite history and claim it was never about Hillsborough and saying it does is part of a Liverpool media campaign? City and Liverpool became rivals for trophies, and City fans started singing it.

And I'm sure you'll get lots of likes and support, because there's loads of people on here who want to beleive the lie to justify their own singing of it. The truth is there in black and white though, when this song started, City fans knew it was about Hillsborough and they thought it was vile.

It’s about Heysel.

It's not about Hillsborough, it's about everything they do, heysel, the coach bricking, the spitting, the attacking an ambulance, Michael shields, the Paris final, claims against var, against us for denying them more trophies..it goes on and on and on.
To say "everyone" thinks it's about Hillsborough is so far wrong you should be embarrassed.
I sing it and will continue to sing it because it's true and they know it

I was in the London Dungeon yesterday.
In the Courtroom scene they pick a Random guy into the dock where he is asked by the judge "And where are you from ?"
He replies "Liverpool"
"GUILTY - HANG HIM! " is the immediate reply.
I've been before so know this is how it always plays out, but I found it funnier that I ought too.
Made sure he saw my City bobble hat on the way out lol
I went to the York Dungeons a few years ago, at the end there’s a reconstruction of the Dick Turpin trial, the Judge finds him guilty and the execution is carried out, the guide then says “Ladies and Gentleman you are looking at a well hung Dick”, no kids were harmed during the hanging.
