Is Saudi more likely to become less oppressive with the worlds eyes on it or stay the same? It’s clear the regime is going through changes, those changes historically have put these countries leaders at risk as they moved too quickly for the general population. The majority of the nation believes homosexuality, alcohol & freedoms we take for granted should be a crime but this will change.

It’s a disgrace a player should get abused for accepting the best deal he can get when the UK trades with Saudi without without any criticism. If the UK media opposed all trade & those profiting whilst highlighting crimes by our own then there would be no issue. It’s gaslighting to blame a player who backed LGBT issues for wanting to do this. The only answer to that for future players is don’t support LGBT then you won’t be called out when a good offer comes in.
It trades - with criticism - that's why we're discussing it. At least we can criticise and highlight issues in this imperfect country.
What riles right thinking people is Henderson's shameless hypocrisy. He clearly has little moral backbone and one must doubt his true devotion to causes he purports to support. People quite rightly detest self-seving, selective hypocrisy.
Furthered himself on the back of weasel words.

So should he have refused to support LGBT issues & said I’m a footballer not a politician?

No idea what to expect this season. Can anyone think of any other instance where a top club lost 5 potential first team midfielders (6 if you count Carvalho) in one go like that? I mean, sure, we have made a couple of strong signings but in what world can you throw 3 brand new players into the midfield for gameweek 1 and hope to challenge City?
Depends on whether you're replacing a midfield that won the league and was challenging on all fronts. I personally think Klopp had played a blinder. He's brought in some real talent to replace some tired legs. I'm not entirely sure Klopp's teams play a highly technical form of football, but I also don't believe they are hoofball like some on here say. So, I'm sure 'bedding in' won't be an issue.

Not disputing people at the top in our country are cunts What we supposed to do though move to a desert Island? There are extremes and you know it. Saudi is as extreme and as oppressive as you can get.
No they're not.

If he only had a passing interest - yes. If he was a footballer with a genuine and heartfelt wish to support the cause loyaly then - no.
It's like supporting nuclear disarmament, but then going to work for Lockheed Martin for more money. Hardly deep conviction.
Argue around the houses all you want - but he looks greedy and lacking integrity.

If you ask one hundred RAWK cult members if they would turn down £700k a week due to their faux human rights outrage, you'd be lucky to get into double figures.

Can you imagine a Scouser turning down £700k a week? No, neither can I.
£700k a week
They would have to have hundreds of sons and daughters, live in a mansion for housing benefit , higher rate Disability allowance etc.
Hmm unlikely.

I’m not sure he’s played a blinder as such yet Malg.
He’s doing what most thought he would do. You would think Slob and MacAllister will improve the midfield but we don’t know to what extent.
Henderson, despite his limitations was one of their leaders.
If he wins big trophies this season then yes fair play to him.

Players are pushed into yes / no situations & it the becomes Henderson refuses to condemn or Henderson refuses to support.

Look at what happens each year with poppies on the shirts.

Personally I believe western players with western values playing in Saudi opens up more liberal thinking.

It will eventually, but dropping any flimsily held belief for money looks like exactly what it is. Dressing it up as some sort of breaching, infiltrateing and attempted liberalisation of Saudi culture is stetching it and gives him far too much credit for what is purely a self-serving, greed fuelled endeavour.
