I once went to a pre season friendly against Exeter at St James Park with a mate from London in 1996 (where we both lived) when Alan Ball was the manager. We'd driven down from the smoke and spent a few days In Devon. Played Plymouth as well. When I told the City fan I was stood next to where I'd driven from he said in all seriousness "you haven't had far to come then?" !!

Edit: just seen your later post. You were at the game too! It wasn't you I was stood next to was it??!!

I remember the term 'grockle' with some fondness from my time working down in Dorset, although it was used with a little irony there it should be said.

The accent is so strong in these parts that I have trouble differentiating whether someone is asking for a cup of tea or a copper tube.
