£32.5 million for Benteke?

Fuck me, that's only £5.5m less than we paid for Sergio. I know prices have gone up in the last four years, but that is ridiculous.

On another note, Mrs Vienna has just shown me a picture on Facebook of a very enterprising and thrifty Liverpool fan. He has crossed off the letters, S, T, E, R and L on his shirt and added an S at the end.

I hope for his sake that Danny Ings takes No. 31.

I actually think Liverpool have bought some good players. We all know what Millner gives and Ings looks a decent punt for the price. Benteke is a handful and will create space for others. I know nothing about Firmino ,but Clyne looks promising too. If they all progress and fulfil their potential and Brent Rodgers gets a decent system going it could all click. On the other hand it could all go tits up i thought they made some decent signings last season but it didn't work out. To break back into the top four will be tough. The rags are strengthening, Chelsea are strong, it is coming together at Arsenal and if we buy two more players of quality we will take some stopping.Time will tell.

It's a worrying time for Liverpool, all there best players are leaving for bigger and better teams.

Very happy we got Sterling. Liverpool are like Arsenal a few years ago all there best players leaving, only thing is I don't see Rogers being able to turn this around.

Can't stop laughing at the thought of the dippers rubbing there hands on receiving 40 million for sterling, only for them to waste it on benteke. Really can't see how he's going to fit in at Liverpool. He's an decent player and he is the kind of player who destroys you if you play to his strengths. Liverpool would of benefitted with a player who likes to beat the offside trap and can produce something out of nothing.

Congratulations to Liverpool for pissing all that transfer money they received from Sterling on Aston Villa's best player!

Fucking brilliant! Can't wait for Phil Thompson and Jamie Carragher to claim how much better Benteke is and that £32.5M was an absolute steal!

You'll see not one person mention how Benteke effectively has cost £5M less than Aguero but they were all quick to mention how Sterling cost £1M less than Torres!

The big difference between those two transfers is that we've managed to get Sterling before Liverpool have run him into the ground and ruined him, like they did with Torres.

Our situation is so dire that that is twice the amount of goals as our top scorer last season; and quarduple the amount of all of our strikers output from last season. 15 goals, I'm talking about.

It is hard to overstate the disaster of a season that last season was. In a way I sympathize with the different approach of just paying the asking fee and being done with it. I think everyone realizes and understands that we've overpaid, but the powers-that-be erred on securing the first choice.

....but the problem is that Spurs have Kane, and Pochettino knows what he's doing there; Arsenal are 4th place experts; and Manchester United are promoting multi-million world-class talent from their academy. So even if we improve, yes, 6th could still be our ceiling. The brutal start to the season doesn't help.

It will be the 2nd summer on the trot that you've spend a fortune so to say 6th is possibly your 'ceiling' is a bit of a hard sell.

15goals maybe more that your strikers scored but that surely can't be a measurement of a 32mil striker. And can it be that all your strikers were that bad? If everyone is playing badly, it usually time to start looking at the manager

Miss Liverpool, Janice Dainty pops into Gregg's while the lads at the club shop put 'Ingsiesta' on her new top.
"It's our year" shouts Janice.
