Those talking about revenues from overseas 'supporters' need to think about one thing, especially as regards the fakes capitals of the worlds, Asia and Africa, how many of those fans that live on £2 to £10 a day do you think buy genuine merchandise?

I'll say it would be around 2% of them. The clubs don't make much money from them at all, trust me.

I know plenty of City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and manyoo fans in Thailand, the only genuine shirts I saw are ones that have been brought to them by friends etc.
You would be amazed at the amount of used and waste clothing that is sent over to African and Asian countries. Literally by the shipload. That second hand clothing is then sorted and sold at local markets all across the respective countries of both continents. In amongst that clothing there are bound to be innumerable football shirts that have been discarded. People that buy from these markets are those that cannot afford to buy new clothing in normal shops. They are most likely to be wearing these shirts because it happened to be a good shirt that they happened to find in a market stall rather than any indication of affiliation to any football club. That doesn't mean to say that there aren't people in those countries that support Prem clubs and wear their merchandise accordingly, but for the vast majority, a shirt, any shirt will do.

I don't think anyone has strengthened much (yet) outside of United, and I think City are looking particularly weak at the moment... outside of their front 3 the squad is aging and getting poorer with each year.

Chelsea - Arsenal - United - Liverpool - City - Tottenham if I had to guess right now, optimistic maybe and will depend on the rest of the window but given our squad...4th should definitely be doable.

They just keep setting themselves up for the fall, I bit of humility might make them a but more popular

This is why getting a decent market share of the US 'soccer' pie is so vital within the next decade. It's a rapidly growing market with punters who have significantly more consumer spending power (most markedly amongst the under 18's through their parents) who are much more likely to eschew snide gear. In terms of percentage of turnover it could very well become the primary market for leading English clubs (rather than sheer numbers of fans).

Liverpool have some obvious advantages within that market, but a number of limiting factors too.

The money's not in the merchandise (although it helps) it's in the TV revenues / subscriptions / pay per view.
If the Americans are willing to pay to watch PL, the revenues could be enormous.
It's hard to compete like for like with traditional American sports, but if PL 'soccer' becomes a cheaper sport to subscribe to, and can somehow work in tandem with MLS, there's money to be made. The problem is that MLS is also a competitor for subscriptions, so we and others need to find a way for both to work in tandem. In our specific case, there's a chance we'll start watching NYC more, and NYC Fans will watch us (many will already, as we're the catalyst in the first place).

Obviously people watch PL the world over, but you need enough fans who are willing to pay to watch it, and that's where America wins. China could do too, but the Chinese government would be wanting a huge cut.

Things can change in the future now. One day, the TV coverage MIGHT drop off (especially if widespread corruption was ever revealed).

It works fairly well in tandem because the seasons are different - that was a deliberate decision to ensure it wouldn't be up against the PL (and US sports more importantly) more than necessary.

They really are a breed apart. We finished 17 points above them last year, they've just sold us their best player and they still think they will finish above us. I don't even know where to start.

Real name Simon Brodkin - he's about as funny as being stung on the arse by a bee that fella - fucking waste of air and organs if you ask me
And he's a cockney rag to boot.

And he's a cockney rag to boot. As funny as having the farmers and sitting on a spike. Having said that the look on Twatter's face was priceless!

Watched some of their pre-season games.

Gomez was impressive at left back, Origi looks very poor, Lallana deserves much more of an opportunity and Ings has good movement.

doubt he's a rag, after his prank at everton the other year it was well reported he supports us, started too when he studied to be a doctor, which he was till he quit, personally he would serve the public better going back to it as he ain't that funny

FFS Stony. They sold us a money-grabbing mercenary who won't win anything and will simply join all the other mercenaries who don't win things. Apart from titles and cups of course.
And they used the proceeds to buy Benteke who will score more goals than Rush, Aldridge, Toshack, Keegan and Suarez combined. Surely that will more than bridge the 17 point deficit?
The only thing in their favour is our inability to win at Klanfield.
