Liverpool v City 1st leg CL Qtr Final post match

This is his second season, we were without a recognised left back, Sergio and Stones. The rebuilding process is still not over and we have a second chance on Tuesday.
My understanding was that Stones was not on the pitch because the manager thinks he is not good enough and tbf he wasn't great back in January in the 4-3. Anyway on balance the Dippers probably had more injuries in defence and we still were unable to even warm the keepers

I wonder what would have been said if the bus driver had lost control and careered into the dipper cnuts throwing shit at him? If you do that anywhere in the country, you’re going to the nick for sure.
Nothin will happen though, it’s a fcuking disgrace, the hypocritical dipper cnuts, always the victims.

The zero shots on target is at least as bad as the 3 conceded goals imo.

Real Madrid went to Juventus scored 3 goals and had two times hit the woodwork and missed 1-2 sitters as well against a Juventus side that surely knows how to defend usually and not scared to go full defensive...

We went to Liverpool and looked scared and had 0 shot on target, dozens of poor cross attempts, lots of lost ball, lack of running, creating...

We are so far away from Real Madrid and from winning the CL its crazy.

If Pool goes trough I want them to get Real and then we see what to do against a Klopp side because I am sure Zidane not gonna play them like Mourinho would and still will get the result.

We are very comfortable on the ball when opponents sit back very deep let us do all the passing we even can make 900 passes a game with Gundogan passing to OTamendi 130 times in a match, but when they become agressive and press us our comfort on the ball vanishing ffs.

Having slept on this, I feel no better about it this morning than I did last night. It was, for me, our worst performance under Pep and probably our worst for quite a time before that as well.

In every other game in the last 2 seasons, whether we've won, drawn or lost, we either controlled the game, or at least were competitive. We've usually won, but when we've drawn or lost, it's been in a game where we might easily have won had we taken our chances. Maybe even we should have won, had we taken our chances.

But last night was different. We were just fucking awful and frankly we were battered. I don't care that we controlled the game in the second half (despite creating bugger all). The game was lost by then.

I'm still fuming mad about the whole thing, and I am praying to God we play like our lives depend on it on Saturday. Not some half-arsed effort, thinking about the 2nd leg and thinking the league's won anyway.

I feel the same but particularly because it wouldn't have needed much, to get us a result.

They just weren't that good & we didn't have to win. All we had to do is be competent, not brilliant, just competent & we would be favourites now. The number ot opportunities we had, to prevent the first goal, it should have been easy.

I'm also furious about the fact (I believe it's a fact) that if Liverpool had been playing Bayern Munich, or any of the other clique, the first move would be immediately offside & both the other decisions would be given in their favour.

We have seen pretty much every season, one of the UEFA clique, go away from home, have a stinker but nick a goal or two & cruise through the 2nd leg, which is effectively what the result should have been.

Finally I'm most pissed of at the whole city of Liverpool & their football club's total disrespect to our team & club. Let's get this straight; we have done NOTHING as a club, to deserve that, except be better than them.

In the 2nd leg if we're to stand any chance of progressing, we need to control the ball in the centre, let Milner and Henderson close us down with their niggling foul tactics, dive and look to get them booked as quickly as possible. We're at a disadvantage playing honest when our opposition aren't, refs in europe love stopping play for small fouls, United and Liverpool play up to this, we don't. Our play is all about keeping the ball and building slowly from the back, Klopp knows this so wants to stop play as much as possible.

There were a few crucial things last night-their offside goal,Sane pulling his shot wide immediately after, Ota trying to run it out of defence and getting caught, our disallowed goal and the non-pen on Sterling. Put these together and you have what looks like a drubbing turn into something a bit more palatable.

I'm not saying we deserved anything other than a defeat but things change on very fine margins.

I watched the Juve game & thought how we would be all over Madrid if we played them as no way would we defend as wankerishly as Juve did but we would be far better with the ball.

A day later we defended like a back 4 of David Brightwells & our two world class, creative players couldn't find one decent forward pass between them in 90 mins. Fernandinho was better going forward than both. They left it to the kids to try & score.

Pathetic.

What I thought was interesting prior to the game was Peps comment about the players attitude. He seemed to indicate in a round about way that the players minds were on the derby and winning that. That is what it looked like last night as well. Dippers had nothing else to focus on. Just wonder if this was all aboat sarurday in the players minds. Just a funny thing for Pep to say. However, the starting lineup hurt us yesterday.
