Liverpool v City 1st leg CL Qtr Final post match

He didn't outhink him.

We were happily running the game, then defended like a bunch of fucking wankers.

If Liverpool had done what we did, the result would have been the opposite way around.

Yep, I don't know how Pep was outthought when Liverpool did exactly what they did last time and played the way everyone expected.

Like last time, we simply lacked the composure to play our natural game and made school boy mistakes.

Gundogan on the right is criminal, Jesus was pathetic, having only sane as the outball and him being off form was unfortunate.

Laporte wasn’t even bad but him only playing one game there and then starting this was weird.

Never seen kompany on the left and otamendi on the right. Never seen kdb on the left and silva on the right in cm (first half)

Pep is at fault for this and for me it’s took the glisten off the season unfortunately. Wenger line up if I’ve ever seen it.

I’d be absolutely wounded if I was Bernardo. The game was made for him, imagine we had lovren and Arnold in defence it would of been embarrassing.

Speak for yourself. As disappointing as tonight was, nothing will take the shine off a domestic double (and possibly the most comprehensive title win of all time) for me. PL is always the priority, CL just a bonus.
Champions League is more than a bonus. It's the next priority after the league. Wigan was 10 men, and it's a one-off - an FA Cup which was low priority. This was the Champions League, and we've gone from being almost perfect, to a side which has come up seriously short tonight. Of course it takes the shine off the season. To say otherwise is just silly. massive disappointment. That does not mean it's not been a good season, but it's a blot on the copybook

See this is why i am fuming. Klopp does not have a fucking plan b.....he goes for it at home every fucking game, to score early goals and then they revert to type and fall deep. It isnt fucking rocket science to see that or work it out. The majority of us on here fucking predicted it

They play one way and we just allowed it to happen, we rolled over again providing stupid mistakes and off passes to let them rampage up field and score

So why the hell did we not just control the game for the first 30 mins to just keep possession and frustrate them.

I wanted us to go through and win this competition, tha5 first half has highlighted to me that the pkayers have a long way to go to proving they have the ability to do it

That starts in the return leg

It's quite amazing this is the first post i've read about Klopp, after casually reading dozens of forums, that nails it. Klopp is a one trick pony. If he can't play his game, he has no plan B, he is unable to change the course of a game tactically. He can hope one of his players makes the difference individually, but he lacks the vision to turn a game around when it's not going his way, imho. So i found it shocking that Pep played right into his cards, with this lineup. By talking out Sterling, Pep effectively slashed De Bruyne's effectiveness by one third.

But, to be honest, the game could have gone differently, all the same. Salah's goal should never have happened. Not just the offside issue, but defensively this goal could have been prevented more than once. If Sané passes to De Bruyne instead of going for personal succes, it could have been 1-1. The second goal, as beautiful as it was, it wasn't even a created chance, "merely" a quality strike, but if he were to try it 5 times over, it would not go in again. Etc. This game could also have been 2-1, which would have been quite the difference.

But credits to Liverpool. They stuck to what they know and executed their only plan brilliantly.
