Liverpool V City post match discussion.

James Milner is not a winger or wingback. Because he's a good player, it is conceivable he will have a good game there when played there but he's a central midfielder and a very good one at that.
I agree with that. Problem is that we don't need him to play there due to the fact we have others who excel there, so for the reasons you say (good player) he is just a utility.

Which is a shame for him, and a shame for us because we have a player who doesn't strictly meet what we actually require, but is still very good. Makes him either a benchwarmer at best or useless (for what we need) at worst.

Fact is they beat Utd there every season so it's not an easy place to go to. Heard our fans loud and proud on Sky which is something you can't say about other teams at Anfield. We're now the team that everyone wants to beat, we are the game of the season and when we go places people turn their attentions to us and back their team. I've never heard Anfield so loud before and that's because they're playing the best in the country and that's something we need to get used to and adapt to. I believe Mancini is right that we need a few more players, just one or two world class additions for when we have injuries or players missing for any other reasons. Does anyone really believe if this had been the case last season that the title wouldn't have been won sooner, we allowed the rags back in and made them look a lot better than they really are.

A fantastic point at the end of the day, we swanned into Anfield as champions and left unbeaten which is a good result in anyones book. It will take a couple of games to click and get used to other teams raising themselves for our visits, just something the mighty blues will have to accept. Once we have that mentality right there isn't a team in the country that we shouldn't take three points from home or away. It's like I say to my rag brother in law "We're not arrogant, just better" and he has no comeback :)

Not read the whole thread so apologies if already mentioned but.....

kolo..kolorov...dejong all playing today, the three players that maybe leaving

Was bobby putting them in the shop window? would he realy risk a result to put these three in the side or maybe show the owners what we would have if we get injuries?

Dunno just a thought but if true that was one fucking risk.

Also getting ever so slightly worried about joe harts performances and silvas body language when he came on.

Then again i am pretty happy we got a point from those twats we are not going to win every game.

And just how dispicible is that diving card waving **** suarez.

Nobody will be leaving us, we have a small squad of players that we actually use as it is.

Louis Suarez is the biggest **** in football.

Look at the back end of our team. Kolarov, Kolo, Milner are all average. NDJ and Zabaleta aren't much better than that and that's why we couldn't keep the ball when they were pressing us in our own half. We really need to strengthen towards the back. Going forward were fine, Dzeko is much better than Balo i can't understand how Mancini doesn't see that. We've got to improve fast. Chelsea and Utd will be a lot stronger this time around.

Zabaleta is quality and is seriously underrated by some people on here. He is the perfect pro and IMO he is a better player than Richards. He would be the first choice at right back at any club in the premiership.

what explain

We should replace Joe Hart with a better keeper.

I havent followed this thread but if that is a genuine quote then kill me niw.

If it was sarcastic then fair play mate, you got me.
No idea if he was serious or not (realistically I don't think he can be), I only quoted him for irony due to knowledge of what position Fulop plays....

Amazing how people can have such differentiating opinions watching the same game. IMO 1-1 at Anfield is not a bad result. Especially when it is home opener with a new manager. 1st half Liverpool were mostly dominated with the exception of few minutes after their goal. 2nd half was much more open, and honestly either side could have won it.

Kolorov - Shaky defence and not much service in attack. If Mancini is going to play wingback system, the WB should be offering more attacking options.

Milner - Honestly he is waste on the wing. Offers very little attacking, and his hard work is wasted unless at this level. He would be good option if he is on team playing against the likes of Madrid/Barca, but at this level where the opposing FB rarely get beyond their own half, I don't his see his role.

Defense - Very shaky. Unlike most here IMO Kolo is not the biggest culprit. He probably was the best defender on the field for City today as he was the only one closing down. They are not defending as unit. Kompany has looked very shaky this season. He nearly scored own goal that led to Liverpool's 1st goal. Kolorov/Zab didn't pick up Auger either for the goal. Hart also could have done better on the 2nd goal.
