Liz Truss

If comparing the two I'd give BJ some credit for seeking at least some consensus on approach within his party. Brexit was the dirty deal he did to get the backing of the right wing press but the rest of his policy was fairly benign (fron a tory perspective). He accepted that he needed to raise tax to fix social care even if many right wingers would just prefer to wish the problem away. Maybe not the same mix and rates of tax options that Left wing types would pick but the basics of tax more to spend more was there and had support. His failure on many other aspects of leadership overshadow all this.

I get the vibe that the right wing think tanks and press influencers thought that maybe if the BJ and possibly Tory regime is coming to an end they should just go all out. See what they could get away with.
Yeah, lining the pockets of those who don't need any more in their pockets and not having the support of the Tory MPs who didn't want her. And borrowing in order to achieve that is tantamount to running into a toffee shop and grabbing what's on the counter!

An end of days snatch and grab vibe. Tories have 2 years to a GE but feels like they have no idea what to do with those 2 years.

Maybe the option of losing a GE to Labour in short order and then let them deal with the hard time ahead is not a bad idea for them, but then tory MPs would have to give up cushy gig so that wont happen.

Johnson didn’t build any consensus? He withdrew the whip from every conservative that disagreed with him and replaced them with a selection of the shittest people ever to get elected to office in this country.
