Liz Truss

The anti royalist pressure means he can’t.

Some should be sorry they’ve put him into a position where he can’t get rid of these scoundrels.

He can if the public are not happy with the government, or he feels they are useless

It's morally wrong for the conservative party members to be allowed to vote for the next PM again. We need a general election.
I don't think we'll get one. "We elected the party, not the leader, the local councillors not the leader". I'v seen a couple of cons mps mention that. I think they're going to tough it out because it's better than the alternative.

I'm going to say something nice about Truss.

Her resignation speech was the least robotic thing I've heard her say, maybe out of relief at escaping the nightmare she's been living.

LOL... Haven't you seen enough to realise that the govt don't have any morals... Has any UK govt?
But it isn't the Government who gets to vote for it. It's conservative party members.

There are around 200k people (millionaires/ultra right-wing/kids who were bullied in school/blatant racists), who reflect an extreme end of the political scale, deciding on the leadership of our country for the second time in less than 2 months. These clowns voted for Truss in the first place so the truth is either:

1 - We are letting 200k inept morons (who thought Truss would make a good PM) decide on our collective future, again!

2 - Truss genuinely was the best candidate for the job, in which case whoever follows is going to be even worse!

Either way, we're completely fucked in an incredibly undemocratic fashion.

I don't see that happening... But it would be a refreshing start to his reign

The people of the UK are in a panic with the government choice and making a right old mess of things
what a chance to show his power and the public would back him with a call to to arms

Pretty certain that there are acts of parliament preventing that, and also that it would rapidly lead to the end of the monarchy.

The only way he could be if he feels the public are unrest with the government and the way things are leading to
HE IS THE KING and can do what he feels is right

It's one thing that the members choose a party leader, but there is no way that they should get to choose the prime minister, ever again.

It's not better than the alternative. I honestly don't understand that logic.

We've gone from a criminal to an imbecile. We voted for a manifesto of "Get Brexit done, Unleash Britain's potential". The tories have fucked Brexit up entirely and regressed Britain. They have failed in their promises. They are a complete shambles of a party. We are now in a position where we might end up with a PM who was sacked two months ago taking office again. That is utter fucking madness. Probably the craziest situation in western political history.

But labour (who've had stable leadership for years now) running the country is the scary alternative?

Agreed. Remember we could be on the cusp of a Nuclear War on the continent. They are voting for whoever could lead our country through that. The person they are going to vote for lost the previous race to Liz Truss. We are fucked.

No. You misunderstand or I put it the wrong way. Conservative MPs would see themselves, all of them, losing their constituency seat, their job, their reason for being if they had an election right now.

that's the alternative

Even if you were a Tory voter generally, surely at this point you’d be thinking Labour are worth a punt given where we are.
Everyone should be open to voting in different ways.

We’ve had a century of Conservative-Labour-Conservative-Conservative-Labour-Conservative-Conservative governments over and over.

This century we saw Labour take us into the illegal Iraq war and take £17k out of each of our pensions, we saw the Conservatives stall the economy and run services down, making everyone poorer, deliver a shambles of a divorce with the EU, and now we’ve seen them make a total fucking pig’s ear of politics in this country and completely ruin the economy.

Is it time for everyone in the country to just vote elsewhere away from these two parties? Get the Liberal Democrats in for once and see how they do?

Sorry, that makes sense.

I actually feel that now would be a good time to be the opposition party though. A conservative MP, could blame their fuckups on the new government.
