Liz Truss

She is a goner and good riddance. What a shambles of a party they have been over the last 6 months. Went missing in the summer and then had the stupid leadership election circus followed by a few weeks of economics textbook policies which were clearly doomed from day one. She has caused absolute chaos on the already volatile bond markets and has forced countries and institutions to reevaluate the faith they have in us from an investment perspective. It really should go to the people now. Surely they can’t limp on like this for 18m. They will be like Hitler in the war, not accepting defeat and continuing to cause carnage before the inevitable end.

You can't have two leadership elections to replace 2 disgraced PM's in 3 months.

Just think about the optics of selecting someone you rejected in September.

They will have to call an election.
The Tories don’t care about ‘optics’. That’s been clear over the last three administrations

If they do that, one would have to wonder about the future of party ‘democracy‘ in the U.K. Both main parliamentary parties seem to have become disconnected from their respective memberships in recent years. Perhaps not a discussion for now but one to ponder if they do oust Truss.
It was a brief period of those parties being “connected” with their membership that was the oddity, the outlayer.

Other than the Johnson-and-Truss period for the Tories, and the first half of the Corbyn years for Labour, there has never been as much input from the membership of either party on it’s actions historically. It’s a recent thing that the membership even gets a vote, on the rare occasion that they do. That’s why all three ended up upsetting their entire parliamentary party… the parliamentary party never wanted them in the first place

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that in my entire life.
It’s weird how ill-equipt for public speaking and the spotlight our prime minister’s have been. Johnson hid in a fridge, May hid in various places including the countryside, and all three of them struggle to piece together a coherent sentence or two.

Johnson actually manages to spout words, just nonsense ones. Truss and May physically can’t verbally interact with another human being.

The tories cant change leadership again with out putting a date on a GE can they, Can They? Unreal if they try it, surely 'their democracy' is shown up for what it is by the floating vote and northern losses.

At least Johnson played his role as a bumbling 'likeable' fool whilst he had a hand up his arse and the people who manufactured his leadership took full advantage. Truss is the drunk in the corner of the pub shouting at the optics which are talking back.

We Truly have entered a stage of madness. One with no plan except to hold on and employ the idiots no one else wants near them as they back her to be relevant, with no skill to guide and advise. A front bench of Nadine Dorries repeated

To an extent, yes. The most recent Conservative leadership race- was tempted to say this year’s, but who knows?- is the sixth time now that it has gone to the members. Hague changed the system in 1998 after the walloping in 1997, and it’s involved the members ever since. Before 1965, when Douglas-Home introduced rounds of balloting amongst MPs, it was done vis-à-vis informal discussions, which, if the commentators are to be believed, is where they are returning.

Technically they can. They can persist with Truss in the vain hope that things will improve but probably won’t, and that option currently looks as if it will result in the mother of all trouncings at the next General Election. Alternatively, they can ask her to stand down and agree amongst themselves that Sunak take control for the next two years, and if they all support him, it could negate the need for asking their members. They will probably still be toast at the next General Election, but perhaps not carbonised.

Either way, the public is still going to be unhappy.

If she is ousted they will have to recognise a GE will need to be called, but as they are hard faced cunts they will probably ignore the national fury and carry on regardless

If a leadership election comes again expect bojo to throw his hat in for an triumphant return
There has to be a GE, the country has no faith in the govt to allow them to just carry on regardless.

There probably should be but there doesn’t necessarily have to be. If there is an early General Election, then it will probably come because the market continues to be unconvinced by what the Government is doing.
