Desire and demand to see her gone is one thing, but the actual mechanism for her to go and be replaced by someone else, without precipitating a General Election, is harder to identify.

I think for many of them a GE is not to be feared - the end is nigh its just whether they want to call it themselves or end up being forced to

As I said, I'm just not so sure. If they can somehow squeeze Sunak in, and you can hear the screams of the 'right' already, then he may just get enough support to shore up a 'coalition' cabinet until the next GE. However, much would depend on the size of the disgruntled right he then alienates and whether they'd want to be the ones to topple him. It's all terribly topsy-turvy.

I think Sunak and Mordaunt are the only options going, with Hunt staying on in his post.

The difficulty is getting Truss to go - she seems to be incredibly stubborn and it would be utter humiliation for her to accept it.

The horsetrading putting together a working collective with enough support will be very difficult, if not impossible as the demands will be crazy.

Not sure the country can afford to keep her on the life support machine for that long. Then again, the UK has basically been (dis)functioning without a proper government for nigh on a calendar year now, so what difference would another ten days make?
