Long weekend in Istanbul at end of May - Turkey on Govt Red List

BBC News.

UK travellers returning from "red list" countries are flying home via Turkey to avoid hefty hotel quarantine fees.

Passengers are breaking their journey in Istanbul, and staying in hotels there for a fraction of the cost they would have to pay in Britain.

Only going if I can get a ticket via a probable ballot.

Pointless siiting in a hotel bar in Istanbul watching it on TV with loads of Chelsea fans.(I was there in a hotel in Istanbul)

Turkey and Istanbul are currently in lockdown, which might be extended up to and past the CL final.

Imagine losing and having to stay in your room in Istanbul sulking? Sounds shit. I’m giving this a miss I think, no point go through the hassle getting there, only it to be a bad experience.

Its a shame they couldn't dedicate mini fan tents for those who can travel.

Same here , it’s sad but I’ll be in a pub somewhere in Manchester, a lot cheaper , guaranteed to watch the game and zero hassle

The passengers would have to spend 10 days here to avoid UK quarantine.
They would also have to tell a pack of lies here to avoid quarantine in Turkey
Quarantine can be broken if you are leaving the country. As the current rules stand.
i think that is only if you were using Turkey in transit to another destination.

Turkey will be amber.
cases are falling dramatically.
politics will ensure it’s amber. After all the ESL posturing by no.10 no way they will make it red, depriving the final of any fans from the actual participants.
the clubs will push back on limiting to official travel as well, as no way they can arrange travel for 8000 people in less than 2 weeks.
will be Amber, needing 4 tests and a 10 day quarantine.
thats enough to put most people off.
