Long weekend in Istanbul at end of May - Turkey on Govt Red List

If this goes ahead in Istanbul, I'm guessing the only way it becomes easier for fans and with less hoops to jump through is if they do it through official travel packages organised by the clubs like they did for City fans in the Carabao Cup. It's the quarantine upon return that will be the deal breaker for a lot of fans I reckon. If that can be somehow waived then it becomes more doable for many. I'm just not sure how they can get round it because you can't have special dispensation for football fans, so it's just a case of hoping the situation increases dramatically enough in Turkey for it to go on the Green list.

If you are deemed by the government to have entered a country by merely transiting through an airport (thus subjecting you to heavy restrictions) then you can be sure that no special dispensation will be granted to football fans actually venturing out of the airport to a stadium.

The Europa League ticket ballot gives us an indication that you buy a ticket on the basis that you are responsible alone for observing that country's laws and restrictions, as well as your own on return.

Regarding the green list, only the best progress possible will get Turkey to arrive at this status before the final but this will likely be at a time that is too late to make any arrangements.

I think it's best to prepare for self-isolation, multiple tests and a good many hoops.

The things you do for City!

Yeah, I think that's going to be the problem. There's supposed to be a Government announcement tomorrow regarding travel and which countries will be Green, Amber, and Red, but that will be way too soon in terms of placing Turkey in Green. I'm prepared to jump through some hoops but I can't go if I have to quarantine on return so my only chance is that Turkey goes Green before the club has sold out its allocation of tickets and travel packages.

If it goes ahead it will be exactly like u said
Test before going
Test day before flight
City controlled flights only through club on the day of match
Coached from the airport on arrival to a secure area near stadium (fan park type with food and drink facilities)
Straight from the fan park into the ground ,and the reverse after the match ,no stop over ,straight back

as this is essentially a ‘bubble !’
There should be no need to isolate on return to the UK

Quarantine on return falls to 5 days does it not if you take a paid test and is negative? So if you fly back on the Sunday, that’s day one, then bank holl is the Monday day two, and then would have to isolate for 3 more days off work etc. Correct me if I am wrong but that is my understanding of the gov.uk guidelines.

This would mean the club ticket office has to organise all travel and transfers for 4000 fans, in three weeks, which given their track record isn’t hopeful...

Nearly right. Day 1 starts the day after you return not the day you arrive.

True, but you still need to do and pay for the day 2 and 8 tests.

FFS... The more I understand about what will be required.. isolating, tests etc etc... the more remote the chances of going to the biggest game in our history becomes

C'mon City, Chelsea, the FA, the Government.. whoever.. start leaning on UEFA to do something right for once
