Long weekend in Istanbul at end of May - Turkey on Govt Red List

Turkey will be amber.
cases are falling dramatically.
politics will ensure it’s amber. After all the ESL posturing by no.10 no way they will make it red, depriving the final of any fans from the actual participants.
the clubs will push back on limiting to official travel as well, as no way they can arrange travel for 8000 people in less than 2 weeks.
will be Amber, needing 4 tests and a 10 day quarantine.
thats enough to put most people off.
But, crucially, enough to satisfy demand without armies of ticketless fans converging on the city.

You can see how they're playing this, can't you?

OK I booked my flights at 4pm pre kick off

Never been to Istanbul though- better to stay in Istanbul rather than close to the stadium?

Considering the hoops to jump, the costs to be incurred in both terms of time and money, let alone the risk to health, I cannot see us selling 4,000 tickets regardless of it being the Champions League Final. I shudder to think of what it would cost a individual fan in terms of flight, 1 night's hotel, match ticket before food, local travel costs, transfers. I won't mention beer as anyone who is daft enough to pay the initial costs surely wouldn't risk bringing back zero memories due to being pissed.

Thank God for Television I say.

The passengers would have to spend 10 days here to avoid UK quarantine.
They would also have to tell a pack of lies here to avoid quarantine in Turkey

i think that is only if you were using Turkey in transit to another destination.

Nope. Example; If you arrive in UK from USA, currently you have a 10 day quarantine. If your return flight is day 6, no problem. You don’t have to stay in the UK for 10 days. Also, as it applies to me, there are also rules about transiting through the UK. I can return from Turkey to UK, spend one overnight in hotel and then leave for USA next day. What I can and can not do during this transit is very specific, but I don’t have to quarantine for 10 days in UK.
