Long weekend in Istanbul at end of May - Turkey on Govt Red List

I think that there may be a bit of statistical manipulation here on the part of the Turkish government.
Yep, what we about to witness from Turkey is a recovery of Lazarus proportions from the Corvid pandemic. The greatest recovery by a country in the last year over the shortest period of lockdown without nationwide vaccinations.
What do they put in their kebabs?

It's likely midnight tonight/tomorrow when the traffic light list is revealed.

Whichever colour Turkey falls under initially (and it's about a 99% certainty it will be amber at best) is what the rules and regs will be for the final.

By all accounts it's going to be reviewed every 2 weeks once travel goes live again from 17th, so if Turkey is amber tonight/tomorrow, it will be amber until at least Monday 31st May.

I think there is more chance of me waking up with Taylor Swift than the government giving travelling fans an exemption from any rules, even those on official club trips, so I wouldn't pin any hopes on a 'travel bubble' being authorised.

If Greece were to get green status and anyone thinking of holidaying there and travelling over to Istanbul for the final and back again, bear in mind you'd still be subject to amber restrictions on return to the UK. The only way round this would be to spend the 10 days after Istanbul in another green country (be that Greece or elsewhere)
Announcement tomorrow and reviewed every 3 weeks.
so next amendment will be Fri 28th, the day before the final.
it will be amber. Not a chance it will be green. Don’t even contemplate it. Not going to happen.
cases are coming down rapidly, it too soon to influence the announcement tomorrow.
will be amber.
10 day quarantine, pre flight PCR test each way and 2 more when you get back. £200 of tests.

We can forget any hope of a "bubble" too. There's just no way they'll make an exception for travelling fans.

Completely agree it will be amber at best (as I said in my post), almost zero chance Turkey will be green before June.

As I understand it the system is reviewed every 2 weeks (with an additional weeks grace for people abroad to get home if necessary) and the traffic lights don't go live until travel resumes again on 17th May....so if Turkey is amber on Monday 17th May then it remains amber until no earlier than Monday 31st May.

Obviously stand to be corrected if the process isn't quite as above but either way Turkey just ain't gonna be green.

By the same token, it ain't gonna be red either.

That’s not quite right. Turkey have said no pre flight test needed from May 15th. LFT will do before flight home. Then 2 PCR tests on return (or 3 to cut isolation to 5 days) Now they’re available from £45 each.

Waiting for confirmation but will we not need one to be allowed on the plane to go?

So you're looking at £150 on tests before you've even thought of anything else?

Is that why people are pricing it up, you have to have a test in Turkey before coming back? I know the LFTs before Spurs were free.

On a separate note re travel has anyone looked at flights to Germany and then onwards from there as a big Turkish community so assume a few flights going?
