Looking down on 'glory hunters' is arrogance

If it gets to the point that I am unable to get tickets to games I would prefer us to go back to not being successful. Going to games means more to me than City winning trophies.

Know what you mean. Nothing beats the matchday experience live. But if I had to trade my presence at the Etihad, for City being one of the most successful sides in Europe. i.e. Champions League wins, plus domestic honours. Then reluctantly I'd do it. I've followed my team since the mid fifties. And seen it all. But it's not about me. It's about City and our success. There's always the telly after all.

Exactly, city comes first.

I hate glory hunters or glory seekers. Those who choose to support are club need to know a bit of are history.I know loads of liverpool and united fans who dont have a clue what there club have 1.

Some on here could accuse you of being a BM glory hunter. Its the responsibilty of all blues to teach our new blue brothers and sisters our history.
Yeah i suppose i was a glory seeker when i 1st supported city over 30 years ago.I know 1 thing ive met a lot of city supporters and the 1s that go to the matches know there football.

I am not accusing you of being a city glory hunter but suggesting that some may accuse you of being a Blue Moon glory hunter as you only joined the forum recently. That to say does not mean you have not been supporting city before you joined.

I have mates who go to every game, but who are not members of football forums and there are fans who dont or cant get to games but that does not mean they "dont know their football or know more or less about the clubs history than those that go.

The term "glory hunter" is wrong as surely doesn't everyone want their team to be successful? If some people have become fans and want to learn the history and traditions of Manchester City they should be welcomed. Its turncoats that deserve stick you cannot change your team just because you see someone else is being more successful. There was a lad on the facebook page who freely admitted to being an ex rag when ever he posted I gave him both barrels every time he deserved it but what makes it worse in his case he lived in Manchester!

Football is part of the culture in this country, it is how you are brought up and which and which team you were taken to watch.

There is no choice and you don't chose which club you support.

No; he's not a glory hunter.

Caps lock key hunter, maybe!

Hello mate, just out of interest, you didn't buy a couple of City shirts off me on e-bay last year did you? It doesn't really matter if it was you or not, the point of me posting a reply was simply to say, that as a City fan I was probably more happy to send my old shirts to the other side of the world than I was about selling them to some kid in Manchester. I have a very simple dream in life, that there will be a day when you can say the name "Manchester" anywhere in the world and the automatic response is NOT "Un*t*d". You and other "NEW CITY FANS" like you are a step in the right direction and I for one welcome you as a supporter of MCFC. Spread the word fella, the more the merrier.

Oh, but don't ever dream of getting yourself a ticket to any of our games 'cause some people on here would consider that act more punishable than if you murdered their parents. (LOL)

No. I almost never buy things online. Thanks for your offer, I'll definitely take it when I have the chance. That's a pretty specific dream. Wouldn't you rather dream of City dominating football as a whole? Nah that would be boring. There's a community of City fans here which started in 2010. They're pretty ignorant and mostly focus on retail. They finally have a Forum so hopefully even a kid like me can help "enlighten" them.

What? Seriously? Not even League cup 3rd round away games?!

Just remember to bring;

- A digital camera
- Directions
- Replica shirt & and additional club merchandise
- Foam hand

Additional credibility given to those who take the plunge and wear face paint.

Enjoy your trip.

aren't foam hands considered as "club merchandise"?

Wow. Didn't realize there were so many proper fans who welcomed glory hunters. To be honest I'm just a 16-year old Indonesian kid who only started to like football when my friend asked me to play PES with him 2 years ago. I played as Real, and that's why I prefer them to Barcelona, but by no means do I support them.

I only liked football recently. I started to support City when I saw a headline: "City v United, FA cup semifinal Derby" on the sports page in a newspaper. I asked my friend "Which one do you support?" he answered like how most Indonesians would. "MU of course!!" I decided to be different and supported City instead. I try to read as much as I can about our (yes, our) history and try not to turn off the TV every time we're about to lose (like many Indonesian glory hunters).

Most Indonesians have almost no choice but to be glory hunters because honestly, the PSSI (Indonesian FA) s*cks. I mean, two years ago there were 2 top flight leagues here! (one illegal) and last year there were actually 2 FAs!!!! Couple that with the fact that a lot of "hard core" fans (I choose not to be one of them just for safety, though I acknowledge them as true fans.) are hooligans that bring a bad name to local clubs. (especially Persebaya, the Indonesian club I try to support) Naturally Barcelona, United, Milan, and Chelski are the popular clubs.

Back on topic, I follow the club on a daily basis. The first 4 tabs every time I open my browser are: The OS, mangafox (yes I am a manga geek. A mild one though.), BM, and the Manchester City page in Bleacher report (because goal.com is rubbish.)

I read a lot on the forum (every day about 4-5 threads) since I found it but I almost never post though, because I'm paranoid and I'm afraid people will bash me for being a kid/late football fan/glory hunter. This thread honestly reassured me that I won't always be bashed like that.

One last thing, I want to support City financially but that's impossible considering I'm a 16-year old who doesn't have much money, one US$ is about Rp.9000 (a cheap piece of bread is usually 1000) and the price of real football shirts are 200.000+ here!

Sorry about my bad English and/or manners. Again I am very paranoid.

Selamat Datang AFFS, your English is excellent.

I spent 20 years in Indonesia spreading the good word of Manchester City Football Club and the only City shirts I would see were the ones I gave away! Certainly not these days I see them every day now and it makes me so proud to be a Blue.

Don't be paranoid there is no agenda :)

Glory? What glory? The FA cup and a last minute goal to give us the league after Utd squander an eight point lead? Let's talk about glory hunters when we've racked up a few more trophies.
