Looking down on 'glory hunters' is arrogance

What a lot of people think? Actually its a very small minority who have said anything to me. Some have been negative and some positive.

Mostly its those who can only see in black and white who have made up complete fabrications about me. St Helen's Blue being one and bluebannana being another. The latter being someone who portrays every single local City fan who went prior to 08 as being poverty stricken working class types.

I would have gone through relegation again if my relationship with the fans at Ewood wasn't so bad. I didn't say they were all scumbags. Maybe just 95% of them.

The one thing City fans can learn from Rovers fans is how not to treat a guy who invests millions into your club. That won't happen here anyway because City fans are better people than Rovers fans in every respect.

What about all the fans across Greater Manchester who support City then? Why don't they support Stockport, Rochdale, etc then. A lot should judging by the unwritten rules you steadfastly adhere to.

Again, absolute bollocks.

As for the last paragraph, a lot of those fans have been following their team since day 1, whether through choice at an early age, pressure from parents or friends or what have you.

You, on the other hand, gave up on a team you claimed to have followed for so long and picked the best possible alternative at that time, probably because you've craved success and glory for so long that you weren't willing to wait around for Blackburn to attempt another trophy assault.

After living in the south my whole life I cannot stand glory hunters, especially since they used to give me stick for supporting a 'rubbish team' at school. Unfortunately sounding about as southern as they come, I'm now being branded one myself! Oh well, I know why I support my team so it doesn't matter to me.

Terrible thread.

It was a pretty average glory hunter thread until the heated debates came in. Then again this kind of debate should be expected in a thread like this...

Right so because you know 2 fans that means you know Rovers better than me does it?

If I called United fans a bunch of scumbags nobody would bat an eyelid. We all know what they are like but the vast majority on here don't know what Rovers fans are like. Certainly not as well as me but then again you just seem to be making up retorts as you go along.

Like you say, I know 2 Blackburn fans at my place of work and I know they aren't scumbags. They follow their club through thick and thin. That's 100% of the Blackburn fans I know who aren't scumbags.

So Vinjay, tell me, why are 95% of Blackburn fans scumbags?

Why are that 95% disrepecting everything Jack Walker did for the club?
Why are that same 95% ignoring eveything Jack Walker has done for the club?

Enlighten us all on here as to what they have all done to make you so 'disappointed', you decided to jump ship and follow a soon-to-be-successful team.

I've spent enough time ranting about those people. The sooner I get out of that town away from them the better my life will be.

Unless people decide to stop making up complete fabrications (points I've made in the past completely ignored) there's no point in having this debate. Made a mistake commenting in the first place and I'll probably made that error again in a couple of months. The fact is I'm staying and will be as long as City fans have my respect. Which means I'll probably still be on this site if it exists many years from now. Which by the way if you asked me in 2006 (BEFORE the takeover I may add) which fans I liked and respected the most the answer would have been Manchester City. Shared hatred of United was part of the reason but its not like I have the same respect for Liverpool or Leeds fans.

So, seen as we're having this little discussion where I am questioning your outrageous belief that 95% of Blackburn fans are scumbags, why can't you answer it?

I just find it hard to believe that many City fans who have experienced the high and the lows (on a regular basis) will give you the respect you want from them when you have labelled pretty much the entire fanbase, of a club you claim to have loyally supported for decades, as scumbags, and decided to switch allegiances.

Convenient that YOU say that. will he bite?

So the honour falls to you. Would you like to risk digging yourself a bigger hole by elaborating?

O dont upset him mate or you will receive a PM for a private handbags dual.
I must have forgotten to pack up my fishing rod when I logged off.

But this is what I said previously, you're very confrontational even though no one was addressing you. Hence why I wanted our discussion to be via PM, to avoid posts like the above.

Ah well.

P.S. Vinjay, stop acting like you were singled out by EVERY Blackburn fan and victimised. You should support the team, the players. The fans should have no bearing on your support for your club.

Vinjay. I have said my piece and another poster summed it up perfectly. Why not choose Bury,Bolton,Blackburn,Wigan,Preston,Blackpool?? No you chose City because you knew what was round the corner...

You are a glory hunter 100% and Blackburn are better off without you. Please do not call me homophobic because I am 100% not..The term knob jock to me is not homophobic but if I have offended anyone I apologise to one and all......

By the way..I remember your posts on the Muamba situation when the Awful comments on twitter were posted and you tried to justify it as a bit of banter. I clearly remember it and you soon backed down when you were berated on here. Now..I don't know you but let me show you the difference. If City ever folded, never mind were shit (I was there) then I would not support any other team, because I couldn't. You choose your team and stick with them through thick and thin WHATEVER the situation is. You bailed out for no reason so yes Vinjay..You are a glory hunter.

Vinjay. I'm not going to take a pop at you as you're already having a hard enough time. Tbf you've at least had the bottle to stay on and fight your corner. What's troubling everyone (I believe) is that most of us view our chosen clubs as permanent whereas ownership/management regimes come and go. F**k me, we've had to put up with Alan Ball and various other idiots in our time. However we stuck with it because it's OUR club, regardless of legal ownership, and it's bigger than all of them. Taking the rough with the smooth is what being a true fan is all about. We finally got lucky with the Sheikh but maybe we deserved to.

As an outsider, it appears Blackburn have acquired strange owners who have taken some strange actions. It doesn't sound like a benign regime and I can understand why the hard core fans are protesting. I'm guessing most of them will continue to kick off until the Venkys do a runner or things improve in some other way. Presumably the vast majority will remain Rovers fans though, whether active attenders or not in the meantime. Rags apart ;) it's hard to see how 95% of any team's fan base can be branded scumbags. Aren't they fighting for what they hold dear?
