Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

I think he's a good player but I am always a bit concerned about spending what is a considerable amount of money for a player who didn't have the greatest season

So why's he desperate to go to Chelsea who've just bought Enzo Fernandez?

What you've said makes no sense. Caicedo's young & has a lot to learn about football at the very highest level. If he wanted to be a guaranteed starter every game, he could easily do so by dropping down to the Championship & replacing Lavia at Southampton.

Caicedo wants to test himself at the highest level, & as Rodri said yesterday, he needs to be rested otherwise he'll be burned out. The same goes for all modern players at the highest level, including Caicedo.

It is easier to be main man in Chelsea rather than City just saying.

Forgetting the loan situation, which is most likely, but what valuation do you think City have in their head about Palmer at this present moment ? 30-40m ?

Yes but we aren't talking Brighton as his other option. Plus he would soon get restless playing 30 -40 games for us if he was missing the big games and finals. Can't see us paying £100 mill to back up Rodri either. Might be wrong but doesn't make sense to me from his side or ours really.
Who said he'd not be playing in the biggest matches?

Would you have believed 12 months ago that we'd start with Aké, Akanji & Stones in a CL Final at the end of the season? No, me neither.

All three played themselves into the reckoning, & those who missed out need to step up in future. Only Walker's omission seemed harsh to me. The rest was predictable based on the team's form & player performances at the time.

Now if like Cancelo they believe they're above this, it's better the seek pastures new.

The game at the weekend it was noticeable at 75th min he looked tired yep still need to get up to speed and it was only our 3rd game! Last season he was a 10/10 player there bound to be a bit of a drop of! Pep needs another reliable player who can play Rodri role..
Yes, and I don't think a stopgap solution will be the answer. I don't think Rodri will have told Pep anything he didn't know already. In fact, I'd go as far as to say Pep probably agonised all last season over using Rodri so much. It all comes back to Phillips not being an adequate replacement. He is the most like-for-like in that position and his complete failure to make the grade has created this problem. I suspect Kovacic can do a bit in that role, but it comes down to Phillips. We either trust him to make the grade or look for a replacement.

With this in mind, I cling to the forlorn hope that City are the mystery bidder in for Caicedo, that Mitoma was just press speculation because they got wind of the fact we're dealing with Brighton, and that Chelsea's pursuit of Lavia is as a result of Bloom accepting our bid. Wishful thinking, but you never know.

We are not interested in Caisedo, nor is he interested in us. He wants Chelsea & he will go to Chelsea this summer. Re Lavia, let's think why Chelsea bid 48m not 50m.

Caisedo will not be a sub for Enzo. He will start as 6, one of the two DMFs while Enzo can take both 6 & 8 roles.

He didn't have a particularly bad season either. Arguably better than Bernardo's, Rodri's, Jack's, Mahrez', Cancelo's, Gundo's first seasons with us.

We were in for him last year, Pep is rumoured to have been watching him for some time. He has had very good seasons with Lyon before landing at WH. So I imagine there is something there the club are looking at.

I would be much more comfortable with that, i.e a very good and proven player that has had an average season, over an average unproven player, that has had a couple of months of excitement to show (like Mitoma). Although the way things are going, we may end up with both.
