Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

They didn't know Gundo was leaving for sure, and Mahrez came out of leftfield. Apart from that, though...

Mahrez definitely didn't come out of left field - the much maligned Sam Lee wrote about how he wasn't happy etc. I would be extremely surprised if City weren't aware of it as well. Regardless, he's been gone a few weeks now and we haven't replaced him. Gundo has been gone longer and we haven't replaced him - Kovacic wasn't an intended replacement as we had interest in him regardless of Gundo. Hell, we were after Bellingham regardless of Gundo leaving.

Paqueta isn't the be all and end all - he's a good player who could become great under Pep. I get the consternation about the fee and why we would pull out but it's quite a poor situation to be in and KDB's injury just exacerbated the risk of having a smaller squad. We have a few players in the squad that Pep either doesn't trust, are inexperienced or potentially not up to standard. He can do miracles but it would be great to follow up the treble without him needing to.

Just to add to how ridiculous the transfer market is. Tottenham have been quoted 120 million Evan Ferguson
That's just a fuck off price to Tottenham. It should stop Tottenham offering £80mil and expecting Brighton to come around.

We didn't accept Leipzig's valuation of Gvardiol.

We weren’t far off it. Gvardiol wasn’t cheap at £77mill. And we put a £90mill bid in for Rice.
No and they won't, we'll just walk on to the next target, thats what they've done so far, they won't change, you can see that can't you?

Let’s see who the next target is, if he’s any good, and what we pay for him. There comes a point when City have to pay the asking price or close to the asking price. City can’t keep on walking away for the next 2 weeks without strengthening the squad.

Isn't that we did only for West Ham to decide late on the price has increased?
Nobody knows.

But you can’t blame West Ham..

They have seen the other prices players are selling for,

West Ham don’t owe City anything.

And City knew that transfer price increase was coming.

I wouldn’t blame them at all. If players like Caicedo and Rice are going for over £100 million. He’s an 18 year old scoring goals in the Premier league and up for PFA young player of the year.
