Disagree tbh, some of the numbers being banded around for him are ridiculous for a leftback (pretty much the cheapest position in football). If they were offered the crazy £30m that some papers are suggesting, I imagine they'd bite their hands off and laugh their way to the bank. No leftback is worth that, especially not one who is just potential and hype at this point.

It's not like he's a Bale type, who will eventually play further forward and might be worth more, he's an out and out leftback. They could probably replace him with a better player (with less potential) for under £10m and then spend the £20m extra on improving the more important areas of their team. For me, if someone was stupid enough to offer that kind of money then it would be a no-brainer to sell him

Which is why us buying terry phelan for £2.5 million was bonkers, when we had a midfield and forward line as poor as we did.

Im pretty happy with Clichy and Kolarov at the moment tbh

Tasende also looks promising in the u18s.

At the start of the season I was happy with our rightbacks and thought left back was a priority, but now like you I'm happy with our left backs and think cover for Zabaleta is our biggest concern along with centre midfield cover

Can't say I've seen much of him! Do we think he can be as good going forward as Kolarov (I think Kolarov has a world class delivery unlike Clichy) but as good as Clichy (in previous years) at defending?

OOOOSSSSHHHH!

Manchester City are ready to flex their financial muscle and pay a world-record £30million in January for Southampton’s outstanding young English prospect, Luke Shaw.
City have made it clear to Saints chairman Nicola Cortese they will pay the fee immediately to blow away rivals Chelsea and Manchester United, who also hold a long-standing interest in the left-back.
Shaw, 18, is regarded as England’s long-term successor to Ashley Cole and City accept they will have to break the world-record fee for a full-back to get him — beating the £29.5m paid by Barcelona for Dani Alves in 2008

Shaw — and his club — have indicated he is happy to stay at St Mary’s until the summer. But City are primed and ready to beat any offer should he become available this month.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini is convinced Shaw is the long-term answer to his problem left-back position and will allow Aleksandr Kolarov to return to Italy should the youngster arrive.

Giddy.

Sorry if already posted!
