The Guardian are reporting that United are set to sign him as Shaw has been lured by a 100k a week contract, yes you heard, an 18 year old on 100k a week.

http://www.theguardian.com/football...sea-luke-shaw-transfer-david-moyes?CMP=twt_gu

And they say we ruin football!!

If Moyes was manager then there would be more chance. Van Gaal might never have heard of him.

I think it will be a club signing if anything with United taking pride in going for the next big English talent etc etc..

Shaw is a top player and has the potential to become the best in his position but the fee and wages for him are ridiculous.

I reckon Van Gaal will take him to the next level though.

Is he the first teenage footballer in Britain to get a 100k a week, If what the guardian says is accurate?

Had Balotelli turned 20 yet when we signed him?

Edit: According to wikipedia, he signed for us on his 20th birthday, so misses out on that accolade by one day.

Because they're doing it, its a good signing building for the future, English talent etc.
If it was us, God... Wouldn't hear the end of it

Not bothered. Ricardo Rodriguez is better, we should go all out for him.

I haven't seen anything of this lad but I keep hearing rave reviews, he has 5 goals and 7 assists in the Bundesliga which is unreal for a fullback, what can you tell me on top of this mate?

I like Moreno at Sevilla, good attacking fullback and has the perfect physique for the Premier.

I've barely seen him in 3 games. Twice against Dortmund and once Bayern. He seems the real deal to me. Unbelievable getting forward and not bad at defending. Amazing at crossing.

Moreno, I don't know anything about but he seems to be rated highly.

Either one is probably better value than Shaw.

Rodriguez is already one of the best left backs in the world IMO, far better than Shaw but 3 years older.
Shaw would be more than worth signing as his potential is sky high and wouldn't take up a squad place for the next three seasons, and when he does he will be homegrown.

Fullbacks of Zabaleta, Rodriguez, Sagna and Kolarov would be unbelievable, best set in Europe (Maybe with the exception of Bayern)

Chelsea have bid £12.3m for Alberto Moreno, a similar level talent (via Di Marzio). Sevilla will probably ask for more, but I doubt it'll get beyond £15m, showing again how overpriced English talent is.

I agree.

I think it's becoming clear that Shaw is United bound, his reported fee and wages are just ridiculous anyway.

I really do think missing out on Shaw would be a bad thing. I think he will eventually be pushed forward as a winger as Bale was because he has all the attributes to do so. He has pace, granted not as much as Bale but who does? He can cross, he takes a great free kick, can shoot. He's going to be special no mistake about it.

Too much money for a player his age and there is no guarantee he could handle the pressure that comes with the fee.

best left back in the world. Been saying this for 3 years. Don't know why we haven't been in for him already.

I think he has a value of about £12m, and is in his prime at age 28.

In addition to investing in our own youth players, we need to start investing in top young players because our squad is getting a little up in age. The amount of years he could provide would make this a reasonable investment.
