We have for decades with our current policy and "average" players, barring one season with a complete troll of a manager. The way you guys are under rating United because of one season with Moyes is brilliant, I'm sure it'll come back to bite you next season.

The truth is that the rags have not been in the market for top players at their peak since they sold out to Glazer.

They either take a punt on a promising kid and pay over the odds as they have done here with Luke Shaw (by about £18m) i reckon; they pick up experienced pros getting towards the end of their careers or if they can pick a player up whos fallen out of favour somewhere and get him cheap then they will be in there sniffing.

They are shopping at Aldi and will get a bargain and a decent buy from time to time but they've a hell of a load of shite on good contracts who can just sit back and take the cash if they wish. Ferguson bought some crap during his time which is rarely mentioned by the press.

I hope Shaw makes it- hes english and the england team need quality in the years to come. Its a hell of tag hes carrying now though and hes very young, it will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure on derby day at our place! I really dont think they've done him any favours for his long term career, he would have been better off staying at Southampton for another year or two, then moving.

I cant think of a single other league that would pay that amount of money for a home grown player whom only got a game for England because they were going home
 
Obviously £30m for an 18 year old is ridiculous, but you have a remember that they could get about 15 years out of him. A gamble yes, but I can sadly see it being one that they go on to be glad they made.

To be honest, you as a fan shouldn't give a flying one how much your club is paying for him as long as he delivers on the pitch, if he does it.

Overpaid bla-bla is just what rival fans use to stick it into other club. I've read people on redcafe saying we overpaid Fernando at 12 milions.

Turned out Shaws stats were better in most departments

No mention of Kolarov in their comparisons tho

Well Evra is English since he plays for United.
 
Could go 2 ways, a lot of money and play very well for years (Ferdinand) or money down the drain.

Whatever the outcome they dont spend money on players and get them through their famous academy
 
He was a player I liked a lot but sadly the moment he signed the contract with the rags he has instantly turned into a ****.
