Luton Away

It is a small allocation but success should be based on sporting merit not dictated by how big your ground is.
I've no problem with a club being here on sporting merit, but there should be limits (minimum) on stadium size for the top flight for me. Bournemouth, for example, have been here a while and do nothing about their stadium size, and Luton was a shithole 30 years ago, and they've done nothing (much) to improve theirs either.

Ironically, last time I went there we didn't even sell out the small number of tickets we got.

I have 29600. My son just over 29200. Always have been in first sales window. Last time we were not in first window was Viktoria Plzen away where we only got 500 tickets and we were second window then.

This time we are third window. All games home and away all cup schemes and platinum but moving down the pecking order.

Will still get tickets but the above shows the decline in availability to the match going fan.

Not bragging or showing off nor being “I’m alright Jack” actually support and applaud the 18-25 scheme and not outraged by the supporters club allocation but when I stand behind 3 non regulars at burnley who say they’ve paid over £1000 each for tickets that’s where questions need to be asked.
The corporates won't be queueing up for a trip to Luton! Plzen was a laugh though. Bought a ticket on the black market but (like Lokeren) no one checked it on the gate. Hundreds of City fans jibbed in to the home fans' stand. It was so crowded I watched the second half from the Director's Box where there were also no checks! I'll have no chance for Luton (26,000 points) but I have been there many times before anyway.

I'd love to know how many current match-going supporters are genuinely on 31,000 points

My guess is about 30 plus another small group who are benefiting from friends and family (possibly deceased) no longer attending, and keeping their points active.

Nah, way more than that I reckon. I know about a dozen who are around 30,000 just out of my little group of pissheads , and I highly doubt they account for almost 50% of the grand total.

Plus you’ve still got 20 odd on Superbia, who are effectively on maximum points with a plus 1.

But the problem is if we place minimum capacities on stadiums, to get promoted, in Luton's instance they would be denied a place in the top flight they achieved on sporting merit.

With Luton were talking about a club who 9 years ago were in the conference, 5 years ago in the second division to deny them promotion based on ground capacity, to me, is losing the essence of what football is all about. The romance, rags to riches stories, and the possibility all fanbases/communities can have that one match/season they will never forget.

Also with Luton, like Bournemouth as things stand they are punching above their weight based on club size. Moving grounds/extending capacities might be great for big club fanbases, visiting the ground, but if those clubs fail to keep punching above their weight it can leave them playing, in a few years, in soulless bowls/half empty stadiums. Absolutely soul destroying for their fans. The concept to me of linking promotion to ground capacities sounds pretty elitist.

Which was the Luton game by the way? I went to the 2-2 in 1999 and the City end was sold out (think we got 2200 tickets) so I ended up in the main stand with many other blues.

Bournemouth's problem is they don't own the land at present, it's leased and the lease has 5 more years to run. They want to build a new stadium of 20,000 capacity but they need to sort the land issue first.

You might be right, but I know for a fact that at least of the Superbia have sadly since died, which sort-of links to my original point.
I'm not convinced, but we'll never know regardless, as it's not in City's interests to be too transparent.

The real issue is allowing that stadium in the PL in the first place.
Sorry that’s bollocks. They’ve earned the right to be in the PL by dint of what they’ve done on the pitch. Let’s not start getting ahead of ourselves and demanding stadia with a certain capacity. The only metric for playing in the PL should be based on being good enough at football. If that means away allocations in the hundreds / low thousands a la Luton, Bournemouth, so be it.

That last line is correct for sure. I’m not a huge fan of City Matters but the club clearly have no intention of ever wanting the ins and outs of ticket allocations to be public knowledge. So it’s not something they’re ever going to share with them, no matter how often they ask.
